FSU Beats Cal 34-21 at Home

Article By: SOUTHGACRACKER

FSU on a positive track after their victory over Cal This past weekend. The defense stepped up to hold Coach 6's lightning driven offense and was able to keep the ball rolling. FSU's Doak Stadium has a power Rank of 9, which makes it difficult for traveling teams' offense to come alive. The game was a close one until Florida state was able to score 14 points in the 4th, Putting this one away.

Debbie Downer’s Take on Cal vs. Florida State: The Seminole Stranglehold

Well, what did we expect? A road game against Florida State, and the Golden Bears get manhandled like they didn’t belong on the same field. The final score reads 34-21 in favor of the Seminoles, but don’t let that fool you into thinking this was a close contest. This was a clinic in how to dismantle a defense, with Cal playing the role of the crash test dummy.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Let’s start with the ugly—because, frankly, that’s what this game was. The Cal defense looked like they were playing in quicksand, allowing Roydell Williams to run wild for 391 yards and four touchdowns. Yes, you read that right: 391 yards. It’s almost as if the defense didn’t realize the game had started. Every time Williams touched the ball, it was like he was playing against a junior varsity squad. Ten broken tackles? Four runs of over 20 yards? It’s a miracle we didn’t lose by 50.

And what about our offense? Chandler Rogers was doing his best impression of a human piñata, constantly getting pummeled by FSU’s relentless pass rush. Patrick Payton practically lived in our backfield, disrupting plays left and right. Rogers finished with 208 passing yards, which sounds decent until you realize most of it was in garbage time. Oh, and let’s not forget the obligatory turnovers—because what’s a Cal game without handing the ball to the other team?

Coach’s Thoughts: A Ray of... Sarcasm?
Coach Gonzales, never one to mince words, summed it up perfectly: “We couldn’t stop even a claustrophobic quadriplegic child trapped in an elevator if we needed to save our lives in this one.” Harsh, but accurate. The Bears knew exactly what was coming, and they still couldn’t do anything about it. That’s not just bad football; that’s borderline tragic.

The Silver Lining?
If there’s any silver lining—and believe me, I’m stretching here—it’s that this game could serve as a wake-up call. But knowing Cal, they’ll probably hit the snooze button and go back to sleep. With performances like this, it’s hard to see how the Bears can salvage their season. Maybe it’s time to start looking forward to next year, because this one is shaping up to be another forgettable ride.
