Coming off the opening road loss to Cal; Auburn hoped to play better at home. The Tigers had a near perfect three drives to start the game. The Auburn ground game found daylight opening holes all game and the defense got 4 interceptions returning one for a TD. After the first quarter of play Auburn had a 21-0 lead and never looked back.
Auburn RB Jarquez Hunter carried 32 ties for 233 yards and found the endzone 3 times. Auburn QB Payton Thorne redeemed himself by not throwing any interceptions and was 4 for 5 for 97 yards. He did fumble the ball away once after gaining nice yards on an option keeper, fortunately the Auburn defense handled the sudden change and kept Arkansas from getting anything going.
The Tigers love that home crowd which left the head coach wondering why we cant play every game at Jordan Hare.
Arkansas and Coach Stimpin had enjoyed a relatively easy schedule early on in the non conference portion of their schedule. Even in those games they were pressed. Coming into Jordan Hare Stadium they were out to prove to themselves and the nation that they were worthy of a top 25 ranking. By the end of the first quarter it was apparent they were pretenders. Not ready for the step up in intensity and skill as the Razorbacks found themselves out coached and overwhelmed by the environment and moment. We will take it as a huge wake up call. We won't even watch the film on this one. We just want to forget it, get back in the saddle and see if we can't pick up the pieces. The season and our goals are still very much in front of us. We won't let one game define us.
