This rivalry started with both teams driving the field and putting the ball in the endzone. The SMU defense would tighten up after the opening drive however, even coming up with a big 4th down stop in the second half. The Mustang offense was hit and miss and Coach Steamrollr22 is taking a little blame for some play calling miscues that have cost the team in some crucial situations in the last couple games. The coach also takes responsibility for the poor start to the game by Preston Stone against Memphis but was happy to see him with a bounce back game going 12/13 for 245 in this one.
The Horned Frogs have had a difficult time putting anything together this season. They have dropped three straight. After a great offensive outing against Mississippi State, the offense has struggled. SMU shut down TCU's rushing efforts and caused them to abandon their game plan early, rolling to a 21-7 lead by half time. It looked like the Horned Frogs had made some good half time adjustments on their first drive of the second half, however, that was cut short by an interception. Ball security has been a glaring issue, with 6 combined the last 2 games. Coach Narcan has said he will focus on eliminating the turnovers and allowing them to cut his team short.
