Ducks Bring The Platypus Trophy Home!

CORVALLIS, Ore. - In the game of the year in the NDL, Oregon and Oregon State traded blows back and fourth in a thrilling fourth quarter, as the two undefeated teams played to the final second before the Ducks escaped with a 34-31 win thanks to an 87-yard Noah Whittington kickoff return on the final play of the game following a go-ahead score from the Beavers.

Both teams were feeling each other out in the opening half, with the Ducks scoring just before halftime to make it a 10-7 contest in favor of OSU. Oregon opened the second half with the ball, and added a score following a battle for a jump ball, making it a 14-10 game after three. The Ducks then held Oregon State on two straight drives, before scoring again for a 21-10 edge with just under four minutes to play. Oregon State wasn't done though, returning the kickoff for a score, and then taking a third-down interception all the way back for a pick six and a 24-21 lead. Oregon, trailing late, drove down the field and scored on Traeshon Holden's 34-yard catch and run, his third TD of the day, for a 28-24 lead with 1:24 to play.

OSU calmly drove down the field, getting within the 10 yard line with under 20 seconds to play. Oregon nearly made a huge defensive stand, stopping a run play on first, and knocking down two consecutive passes before the Beavers scored in the back of the end zone with a second left for a 31-28 lead. That lead to the final kickoff, and Whittingon, inspired by the Beavers earlier kickoff return, went up the middle, got a huge block from a teammate and took off for the end zone. He would not be touched, and the Ducks came away with the huge victory!

Beavers drop Momentum

Article By: bradysenior

In what will be a tough NDL Game of the Week to beat the Beavers would write a comeback script for the ages only to allow and 86yd Shattered Dream Production return to spoil an amazing moment Beavers Stadium.

After the game the buzz was still prevalent in the stadium as fans, thanked the remaining players leaving the field for a hard fought effort. Last to leave would be Coach Brady who would get a standing ovation for his valor and fight thus far with the Beaver 3-1 record 7-1 Overall including Beefy play. A lip reader stated that as he left he muttered the words never again to all the fans, this probably meaning hell is to come for all remaining games.
