Halliday fumbles before crossing goal line
UNC tops Washington State in the Sun Bowl 28 - 22

Connor Halliday's fumble on goal line allows Tar Heels to secure the win

North Carolina managed to get the win against Washington State by a matter of inches. The Cougars were driving late in the game down by just six points and threatening to take the lead. Connor Halliday was flushed from the pocket and made a dash for the end zone but was caught from behind by Kareem Martin at the one yard line. Martin managed to strip him of the ball causing a fumble. UNC's Tim Scott took the ball away from WSU's Teondray Caldwell on the goal line for the fumble recovery and touchback. Halliday was less than a yard from the goal line when the ball came out and Caldwell had two hands inches from the ball when Scott made the recovery.

That was Halliday's third turnover of the game as he tossed two interceptions earlier. He did however throw for 357 yards in the loss and completed two touchdown passes. Dominique Williams caught 10 passes for 115 yards for the Cougars and was the recipient of both TD passes.

North Carolina had a more balanced two pronged attack on offense with Brynn Renner throwing for 4 touchdown passes and AJ Blue rushing for 149 yards. Quinshad Davis was the main weapon for Renner in the passing game as he snagged 5 passes for 133 yards and 3 touchdowns.

gg Coug. That was a tough break for you at the end.
