Salem, NC - The Clemson Tigers were hoping to keep the game close against Coach Bernie and his Demon Decons and it didn't look like it was going to happen on the first drive. Boyd threw a pick on the second play of the game and saw Wake Forest take the turn over into the end zone a few plays later Tanner Price was able to hook up with Campanaro for the early 7 point lead. It would be a defensive struggle the remainder of the 1st quarter until McDowell was able to punch in a 1 yard run to even the game up.
In the 2nd quarter the defenses would continue to hold strong with several sacks and passes deflected. Clemson would finally strike again with just under 3 minutes when Boyd would find Humphries streaking past a blitzing defender for a 31 yard TD strike. After a quick 3 and out from Wake Forest, Boyd would hit Watkins for a 33 yard TD to put the game at 21-7 with just under :30 seconds left in the half. Hoping to get a quick score before half time, the Demon Decons would go to the air only to see Robinson intercept Price for the 2nd time, this time returning it 24 yards for the 28-7 half time lead.
The 3rd quarter would start just like the 2nd ended. Breeland would pick off Price :12 seconds into the quarter and return it 40 yards for the 35-7 lead. Wake would get on the board again later in the 3rd when Harris would get a 9 yard TD reception to make it 35-14.
In the 4th Clemson would add one more TD from McDowell and Wake would get in the end zone twice more to make the score a respectable 42-28.
Good game Bernie. Definitely not what I was expecting. Good luck to your guys this season.
