Blacksburg, VA {AP} A gladiator battle of epic proportions played out today as two Top 10 ranked opponents squared off. The visiting Hokies were playing the underdog role today as last year's national champion runner ups still looked solid as ever.
The game would see these two heavy weights jostle for pole position in the 1st half as the Hokies would come out leading, heading into the 3rd. The turnover bug plagued Ohio State a bit while the special teams bug ailed the Hokies. Up 14-12 in the 4th quarter, the Buckeyes looked to take the lead as a promising drive would land right on goaline. But a goal line stop on 4 downs would lead to a turnover, Hokie possession on the 1 yard line. Still celebrating the big stop by the Defense, the Hokie Offense shit the bed, letting through linebacker pressure that would forever change the tone of this game. Boom - SAFETY. Just like that we're all tied up and Ohio State gets the ball.
This time around Ohio State would not mess around & punched in a convincing TD to give them a 7 point lead late in the game. In response, the Hokie Offense turned to Logan Thomas to right the ship, but Logan would turn this opportunity into a costly mistake, throwing a pick 6.
Within 2 minutes - the Hokies went from on top of the world momentum with a lead, to trailing 2 TDs in hostile territory.
Ohio State would go on to secure the win as the Hokies suffered their first lost of the year. Next up the Hokies have a BYE week where they'll regroup before their home opener against Georgia Tech
