Louisville Defeats Kentucky, 31-17

Cardinals take home the Governor's Cup

Louisville, Kentucky - The Louisville Cardinals took home the Governor's Cup today, defeating their in-state rivals the Wildcats of Kentucky 31-17. On the offensive side of the football quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was solid, finishing the day 18/22 passing for 275 yards and 2 touchdowns (1 passing, 1 rushing). Bridgewater's favorite target was wide receiver Damian Copeland who hauled in 6 catches for 94 yards and a score. On the defensive side of the football the Wildcats gave the Cardinals some problems, but the defense tightened up when needed and did just enough to preserve the win. Defensive end Deiontrez Mount took home player of the game honors totaling 4 tackles (3 for loss), 3 sacks. a forced fumble and a pass deflection. "It's always big to win against a rival, especially one that's just up the road," said coach McDonagh at the post game press conference. "Hopefully we carry the momentum from this win into our conference slate."
