The Florida Gators went into Death Valley and knocked off Clemson in the season 28 opener for both teams.
Clemson opened the game with a nice drive but stalled inside the 5 and settled for a FG. Florida answered with a 5 yd TD run by Driskel. After a Clemson TD, Florida answered with another Driskel TD, this time on a QB sneak right before the half.
The 2nd half started with a Florida TD drive, which Clemson quickly answered with a TD of their own.
Clemson, SC - The #18 ranked Tigers hosted the #9 ranked Gators in the season opener and put up a hard fight to pull the upset. Both teams were able to exercise ball control and put together long time consuming drives. The Gators defense was able to shut down any attempt at running that Clemson threw at them forcing them to rely on a passing game that saw the Florida defense pick off two Tahj Boyd passes.
The Gator running game, on the flip side, was able to have their way resulting in two rushing TD's by Florida QB Jeff Driskell. Driskell was also able to rely on timely passes to keep the Clemson defense honest.
Clemson would force two turnovers of their own but would not be able to capitalize and take home the win.
Great game uf. Good luck with your Gators this season, especially in that brutal SEC.
