Obviously we wasn't there and who the hell knows in this specific example, but I just think in general, guys are way too uptight about gameplay and too many guys in our league get mad about any and everything for no good reason nowadays.
+1 for me.
When I play guys like Dak and his no huddle offense, personally, I like it, because it is different.
I know we just had a thread talking about this same thing, but I agree with shel that there are too many guys that need to play a vanilla opponent.
I enjoy facing something new.
Now, with that said, my style of offense is vanilla, but that is how I play. Not just for this league.
I have always had a motto of play football, not NCAA or Madden. I play for the love of the game, not to find the AI flaws and exploit them.
Mix it up, have fun, but as a few have told you, moderation is the key. As BFiVL stated, in video games, it is always going to be a little different than in real life, because of the AI flaws.
Jake, someone asked it and you never answered, but were you running the same formation the entire time?
If so, I agree with your opponents. You have to mix it up.
You have to mix up the running and passing and also your formations and your routes.
There doesn't have to be a 50/50 mix. Some teams are run heavy, some are pass heavy, but mix it up.
I always think to myself, what if I was playing against me, would I be happy to see what I am doing as my opponent?
And UCLA, Come on Man!
I know you were playing devil's advocate, but don't even put that shit out there. Sure, it may become easier to cover something if someone is doing the same thing all game, but who would want to face that? I do not see that as an enjoyable game at all.
And, I remember trendon saying with his team, he cannot stop a pass over the middle, so with some teams, no, it may not become easier to defend against a specific thing even though it is done all game.
