CFP Blind Resume Week 2
Article By: Week 2 of blind resume is here. I added a little bit to it this time around. While the quad wins matter, I factored into the points more the actual Massey ratings of the wins, top 10, 25, 50. Because beating the number 40 team in the Massey ratings on the road isn’t quite the same as beating the number 11.
In the end like “Who’s Line Is It Anyway” the points don’t matter. It is just a way to get them in some ranked order.

I went out of my way to eliminate some teams. I think we all know it is over for NC State, Miami, and Iowa without a conference title. USF and Tulane can stay because even though they lost, there is a path to them winning the conference and being the fifth conference champ, but if CMU wins out it might not matter.
This is as of the final of Washington State and San Diego State game. With the loss and only an at large bid a possibility I removed Washington State from the list. An 11-1 season is good, but with the schedule and no conference championship to save him, there is no chance he gets an at large spot with a loss.

This should surprise absolutely no one and I am sure everyone knows who this is already blind resume or not. The only team with 5 quad 1 wins. Is 5-0 against teams in the Massey top 25 including 2-0 vs top 10.

The big different between team 1 and team 2 is as some people like to say a “good” loss. That being said, I am fully on board of a loss is a loss there is no good, but there is bad loss. You lose to Kennesaw State you bet that is held against you. But points wise if you flip that quad 1 and top 10 loss and this team is right there with the top team, but the loss is the difference. Lots of big wins to round out the resume.

Undefeated to date with passing all of the quizzes I will say instead of tests. No teams on the verge of the playoffs have been played to date but taking care of business nonetheless.

The first 2 loss team to find its way in. A little surprised to see them here at 6 in the “comfortably in” range. They have a 5-2 record against top 50 Massey teams and while 5 wins piled up is nice, 2 losses is 2 losses.

This team was part of the reason I wanted to tweak the irrelevant points system. Lots of quad 1 games, but only 1-1 against teams in the Massey top 25. Lots of resume boosting OK wins. Unlike some of the other teams with 1 loss, I think this team can’t afford to drop another.

Very similar to the above team. A couple hollow quad 1 wins that were really against teams they should have beaten anyway. There is a 1-0 record against a top 10 Massey team that the team ahead doesn’t have. But the 4 auto win level quad 4 games are borderline worthless while the other team at least stacked some in quad 3.

Hollow wins were brought up before and it comes again a bit here. That 4-0 quad 2 looks really good until you realize none of those came against top 25 teams Massey wise. Without digging in and taking the blind out of the resume I don’t know if those 4-0 games were against teams 27, 29, 32, 34 or teams like 45, 47, 49, 50.

This one is obvious. And I think we all know at this point wont make it in, but worth noting this team has played 5 top 10 Massey teams. Literally half of his season was against a top 10 level team. Going 2-3 wasn’t going to get it done though.

Now we are into the teams that are no lock to make it even if they win out. Not a lot of games played here so there is a lot left to be determined. The strength of schedule is a little misleading with it being only based on the games played to date, and a third of those games were losses.
