Media Ranks Review And CFP Projection

Article By: Andy

The movement at the top continues to be the same teams shuffling spots within the same numbers.

Texas is now number 1 with Georgia at 2. Texas solidifying the top spot by beating Georgia over the weekend.

Tennessee moves up with an impressive start to the season. LSU drops a bit after not getting games in, but then immediately got some in over the weekend after polls closed.

Overall this week had very little movement of significance. It mostly came on the back end. Northwestern finally cracked the top 25. Cincinnati found its way back in, and Tulane crept in with its big matchup with USF incoming.

NC State was left out, but will almost definitely be in after Penn State's loss to USC. The battle back up is tough as you have to wait for teams ahead of you to drop games. Next week will likely bring more shake ups as teams really dig into conference play.

Next up we have the CFP projection and bracket. We are about a week away from its release.

1. Texas (SEC champ) - This should shock no one. Especially after his win over Georgia
2. LSU (At large) - Dropped only due to his lack of games but is back. I expect him to quickly climb
3. Tennessee (At large) - has his big game with Florida looming that could bump him down
4. Oregon (Big 10 champ) - his lack of a schedule will both help and hurt. Little competition makes the road easy, but it also makes any slip up hurt a lot more.
5. Ole Miss (At large) - Will be in the mix for a bye but for now he is here
6. Clemson (ACC champ) - Outside of Oregon and the Big 10, the clearest path to a CFP bye
7. Georgia (At large) - The loss will drop him a little. If it is his only loss this regular season he will jump other teams. But the next loss could drop him out of the top 11.
8. Alabama (At large) - Literally just like Georgia, but Georgia likely holds any sort of mental tiebreaker over him if teams are choosing one or the other.
9. Missouri (At large) - Passed the first pre tests in Georgia Tech and Auburn. The next one is Tennessee and the big one is Alabama next week.
10. Utah (Big 12 champ) - Hasn't played for a bit. The best user in the Big 12, but like a lesser (way lesser) SEC there are a lot of other teams gunning for that auto bid
11. Texas Tech (At large) - USC was here because of the ranked win over Penn State being better than Texas Tech's best win, but the Monday morning loss knocks them out.
12. USF/Tulane Winner (American champ) - this is a cop out by not picking one of them. But I think the surprise might be that the winner of this game hops over an also undefeated CMU.

With the SEC controlling the 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 seeds this would create a pretty loaded first round of teams. LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, and Missouri would all find themselves in the first round.

Waiting
Louisville-If a second ACC team makes it into the CFP Louisville is the clear front runner for it.
Colorado- Two scares against teams that people didn't deem championship contenders, now the contenders are coming.
Notre Dame-I see him wavering here for a while
Florida- The loss is going to keep him out for a little but plenty of chances to work his way back in, starting this block.
Central Michigan- He probably gets the spot in the first CFP release, but I don't know if he holds it if someone in the American can stay undefeated
Washington State- Needs to get into the top 12 on his own, likely top 11 without a conference championship to win.
