Block M Enters NDL 200 Win Club
Article By: DALLAS, TEXAS — It’s been anything but smooth sailing for Block M during his time on the Hilltop, but the embattled SMU head coach just added a major milestone to his legacy.
With Sunday’s gritty win over Stanford, Block M notched his 200th career victory in NDL competition — a mark that puts him in rarefied air among the league’s all-time sideline generals. The milestone win adds a bright spot to an otherwise up-and-down campaign for the Mustangs.
Now in his 21st full NDL season, Block M owns a combined record of 200-113 (63.9%) across regular-season and NDL Cup play. That includes a 164-88 (65.1%) clip in the regular season and a 36-22 (62.1%) tally in Cup action. He’s also gone 10-6 in bowl games, proving time and again that he can coach under the bright lights.
Despite the league’s nearly eleven-year hiatus — and a multi-year absence of his own from Seasons 8 through 17 — Block M has remained a steady presence when he's on the sidelines, carving out a legacy built on grit, resilience, and just enough wins when it matters most.
For SMU, now 3-3 in Season 32, the hope is that win No. 200 is more than a personal milestone — it’s a spark. With a tough road test looming at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium this Wednesday, the Mustangs are eyeing a winning record and a shot at righting the ship down the stretch.
