Way too Early Big 12 Heisman Rankings

Article By: Eljefebigrump

1. Shedeur Sanders (QB - #2, Colorado)
Stats: 67/81 (82.7%), 893 YDS, 10 TD, 1 INT, 213.6 passer rating

Why He's #1:
Sanders is surgical with the football. His accuracy and decision-making are elite, with an absurd 82.7% completion rate and a nearly perfect 10:1 TD-to-INT ratio. He’s the clear leader of a revitalized Colorado squad and has already positioned himself as the face of the Heisman race with efficiency numbers that would make Joe Burrow blush.

2. Cam Skattebo (RB - #4, Arizona State)
Stats: 64 ATT, 449 YDS, 6 TDs, 7.02 YPC, 257 YAC

Why He's #2:
Skattebo is a bulldozer with breakaway speed. He leads all rushers in total yards and is averaging over 7 yards per carry, with a monster 192-yard long gain. His 257 yards after contact prove he’s not going down easy. He’s doing damage in chunks, and if Arizona State stays competitive, he'll be a dark-horse Heisman back.

3. Will Swanson (TE - #83, Kansas State)
Stats: 19 REC, 339 YDS, 84 YAC, 13.42 AVG

Why He's #3:
Swanson has become an elite pass-catcher at tight end, leading the position nationally in yardage. His ability to pick up yards after catch makes him a matchup nightmare. Even without a touchdown yet, he’s moving the chains and flipping the field, and he's due to explode in the red zone.

4. Michah Harper (S - #1, BYU)
Stats: 35 tackles, 2 tackles for loss (TFL), 1 sack, 2 interceptions, 1 pass deflection (PD), a defensive touchdown (TD), 1 forced fumble (FF), and 1 fumble recovery (FR)

Why He's #4:
As a dynamic defensive player, his ability to generate turnovers, including interceptions and forced fumbles, demonstrates his elite playmaking skills. His 35 tackles and 2 tackles for loss showcase his consistency and ability to be a force against both the run and the pass. With the added bonus of a defensive touchdown, Harper is proving he’s not just about stopping plays, but turning them into game-changing moments.Whether it’s a key sack, an interception to shift momentum, or a fumble recovery to set up his offense.

5. Donovan Smith (QB - #1, Houston)
Stats: 30/34 (88.2%), 409 YDS, 4 TD, 1 INT, 222.2 passer rating

Why He's #5:
Smith has been nearly flawless. His 88.2% completion rate is the highest of any QB on this list, and his passer rating of 222.2 puts him among the elite. He hasn't had the volume of others yet, but if Houston opens the playbook a bit more, his efficiency makes him a serious threat to climb up this list fast.

Honorable Mentions
Jake Retzlaff (QB) – Monster yardage (1,054), but 9 INTs cap his Heisman potential for now.

Micah Bernard (RB) – 8.08 YPC and 288 YAC? He’s one big game away from top-5.

Travis Hunter (CB/WR) – Two-way star putting up 322 receiving yards and shutting down WRs. Still the wild card.
