Warrants out of the Aloha state?
Article By: The Nevada Wolf Pack suffered yet another brutal defeat on Saturday night, falling 35-7 to Hawai’i in a game where they were outplayed in every phase. While Hawai’i has long been known for its explosive passing attacks, it was their relentless ground game that stole the show, led by running back Landon Sims. Sims gashed Nevada’s defense for over 100 yards and four touchdowns, proving unstoppable as the Rainbow Warriors imposed their will at the line of scrimmage.
On the other side, Nevada had absolutely no bright spots. The Wolf Pack defense failed to generate pressure, finishing with zero sacks and only two tackles for loss. Their offense was just as lifeless, unable to sustain drives or respond to Hawai’i’s physicality.
As if the on-field disaster wasn’t enough, tensions once again boiled over behind closed doors. Head coach Grayson Hulett and offensive coordinator Mike Hunt reportedly exchanged heated words in the coaches’ office after the game, continuing a pattern of internal discord. According to sources, the argument became so intense that other staff members had to step in to separate them.
When asked about the reported altercation in the postgame press conference, Hulett visibly lost his temper. Initially dismissing the rumors, he became increasingly agitated as reporters pressed him on the matter. At one point, in a fit of frustration, he tore off the ceremonial leis given to him before the game and threw them into the crowd of reporters before storming off.
Meanwhile, Hunt was seen leaving the stadium in a separate vehicle—sporting what appeared to be a black eye. Though Hulett insisted that “nothing happened,” the scene only fueled speculation about growing dysfunction within Nevada’s coaching staff.
This latest loss leaves Nevada searching for answers as their season continues to spiral. Meanwhile, Hawai’i may have found a new identity, with Sims and the offensive line proving they can dominate on the ground. If the Rainbow Warriors can build on this performance, they could become a much more well-rounded and dangerous team moving forward.
For the Wolf Pack, however, it’s back to the drawing board—if they can even get on the same page.
