"Each season, I like to change up the type of offense I run. It helps keep the game fresh for me."
This week, we sit down with Boston College's VickTim7, one of the NDL's original members whose coaching journey spans nearly two decades of virtual gridiron action.
Q: What drew you to Boston College and the ACC?
A: I've typically been a nomad through the years when choosing teams. Each season, I like to change up the type of offense I run - it helps keep the game fresh. I went from a very dual running back set at UTSA and wanted to go a little more traditional this season, so I looked for a team where I could use lots of 2 tight end sets.
I kept some of my offense from the year before, but I wanted to change up and do something different with BC. If I can get some red zone things squared away, I like the direction it's going. It's fun to enter each season with different things and try different styles. It's what I did years ago, and it's been fun to do now. Next year, who knows?!
Q: What's your strategy this season given BC's rating and win goal?
A: With this team in this conference, getting to a bowl game would be a good accomplishment. The main thing with strategy is cutting down on turnovers. It's been a bugaboo with this game. I can have a high percentage in the passing game, but the few incompletions end up being interceptions which have been killers.
It's been a little better this season, but the strategy needs to be to take care of the ball and stop the big play on defense.
Q: Which rivalry game means the most to you?
A: (smiling) Because I bounce back and forth between conferences and teams, I don't have a rivalry game that stands out to me. Whichever one helps my points total, I suppose!
As far as coaching rivalries, I've been here since the beginning and have played lots of great games against great coaches. I had several guys come over from our Madden league back in '04, so I've played them the most. Some are still here (Black Rain), and some have come and gone. When you've been around this long, you've had fun games with just about everyone.
Editor's Note: VickTim7 brings a wealth of experience to Boston College, including last season's 7-6 campaign with UTSA. As one of the league's founding members, his adaptable coaching style and deep institutional knowledge make him a valuable presence in the ACC.
