Not only have they RSVP'd "yes" to every opponent’s invitation, but they've also rearranged the furniture and claimed a spot in the Top 25. That’s right, the Bearkats are sitting pretty at 5-0 (2-0 Conf) and have clawed their way up to #18 in the latest polls.
The Bearkats haven’t just been winning—they’ve been dominating like a kid with cheat codes. They blanked Oregon State 31-0 (because why not?), handled Buffalo 28-13, outpaced NMSU 35-21, tamed Syracuse 24-10, and sent WKU to bed without dinner with a 45-17 beatdown. Coach Joker must have some magic up his sleeve—or maybe it’s just an unbeatable combo of grit, grind, and a defense that hits like a wrecking ball.
Speaking of that defense, let’s talk about the dynamic duo of destruction: #3 Caleb Weaver and #2 DaVeawn Armstead. These two star DBs have combined for 58 tackles, 8 interceptions, and 5 pass deflections. Opposing quarterbacks are probably seeing them in their nightmares. Thanks to their ball-hawking antics, Sam Houston ranks 6th in the NDL in Points Against and 9th in Interceptions. Basically, if you’re thinking of scoring on the Bearkats, you’d better think again.
Now, the offense isn’t exactly setting off fireworks, but they’re doing enough to keep the party going. QB Hunter Watson is as steady as they come, boasting a 77% completion rate—that’s practically Swiss watch precision. And then there’s HB Jay Ducker, who’s doing his best impersonation of a one-man army. Ducker leads the team in both rushing yards (797) and receiving yards (235). If there’s a play to be made, chances are Ducker’s making it.
