ACC Coach's Corner: FSU

Article By: oldmanwobbles

"Every time you fall short on 2nd down, it's actually becoming an advantage in your favor!"

A refreshingly honest conversation with Florida State's new head coach FLmanUniversity, who brings both intensity and unique game preparation to Tallahassee.

Q: How did you find your way to the NDL?

A: Pretty simple actually - I googled "College Football 25 Dynasties" and found the application in some forum. Filled it out, got a quick response from Niddler, and here we are.

Q: What's your strategy for this season?

A: One game at a time - we have to be. Our schedule is absolutely brutal. We've dropped to an 85 OVR, and our opponents had a combined 105 wins last season with a 66% win ratio. That mid-season stretch from Weeks 6 through 11? Those coaches went 50-18 last year. No room for error.

Q: Your pregame preparation must be intense...

A: (laughing) Well, I'm a THC guy. Take a toke just about every 3rd down on defense. Kills the anxiety and jitters, but yeah, it does stall the thought process. So if you're reading this and we play, just know that every time you fall short on 2nd down, you're actually gaining an advantage - I'm getting higher than a kite!

Q: Which ACC coach do you most admire?

A: VTrunNgun, without question. I mean, look at these numbers: 274-78 career record, 2-time Cup champion, Season 28 National Championship, THREE undefeated seasons at THREE DIFFERENT teams. He hasn't had a losing record in 21 seasons! I love scrimmaging against him just to study his style.

Q: That rivalry with Miami seems pretty heated...

A: (smirking) Two 10-win seasons in 21 years, four losing seasons in that span... and their fans are the most disrespectful and arrogant pieces of work on the planet. But honestly? The Florida Gators game means more. I'm from Daytona Beach - that's Gator Country. That late November game is special - perfect weather, holidays ramping up, post-season implications. Missed it this year, first time since 2016. But I'll be back!

Q: Your most memorable NDL moment so far?

A: Last season with Troy, we had this incredible comeback against Rutgers. Down three possessions with under 5 minutes to go, we pulled off a 45-yard game-winning touchdown pass with 20 seconds left. Nearly upset .doof's eventual playoff team with Louisiana too.

Editor's Note: FLmanUniversity brings a 9-4 record from Troy and a uniquely candid approach to an FSU program hungry for success. Between the brutal schedule ahead and his, shall we say, relaxed defensive playcalling, the Seminoles' season promises to be anything but boring.
