Texas makes bid for the CFP
Article By: We understand that people have not been able to follow the Longhorns football season as closely as we have so we wanted to put together a summary of the season and look at the resume put forth by Texas this season.
The Coach: This team is lead by Coach Steamrollr22. Coach Steamrollr22 lead and underdog SMU team to the National Championship last season finishing 13-1. He as a lifetime season record of 214-65 and overall record of 268-91.
The Season Record: 10-2
The Losses vs Georgia, vs Florida
@ UGA The Longhorns took the lead into the half of this game 7-6. It was a heavyweight battle in Athens and the pressure got to young Arch Manning. This game really turned on a bad throw INT from Arch. Wide open, bad throw right to the defender. Ewers and Coach Steamrollr22 really tried to let it all hang out after that and threw lots of INT to UGA defenders jumping routes once the momentum got out of hand. We dropped this one though to a tough team.
@ Florida This was another classic battle between great coaches and users. This game went tied into halftime 10-10 with both sides making very few mistakes. Texas would stop the Gators on the opening drive of the second half and then the unthinkable happened. The Florida punt would land inside the 10 and with Texas playing it safe, Coach Steamrollr22 ran the returner away from the ball. Unfortunately an AI controlled defender would get blocked into the landing area of the punt. The football takes a big bounce and goes into the endzone where it is touched by the Gators for a Touchdown. WTF????? (watch the video for review) It was so bad, the score at the end of the game said Texas won 24-20. HAHA Coach Steamrollr22 wanted to challenge the play but did not know what he would even be challenging.
Texas would fall down 14 in the second half only to rally back and tie the game with a little over a minute left. Unable to make a final stop the Horns would lose on a last second FG by Florida.
Very few 10-2 teams in the country have better losses than these two losses on the road.
The Wins The Horns went 10-2 (6-2) with big wins over Arkansas, Kentucky (this team beat Cincy), and Texas A+M (the only team to beat South Carolina).
The DEFENSE Defense wins championships and the Texas defense has to be considered one of the best in the country. They lead the country in points allowed out of teams with 12 games played giving up only 161 points on the season. Texas also is one of the nations leaders in total sacks and total defense.
Texas is Hot right now and looks for a spot in the playoffs. I think it is important to say that in the NDL the OOC scheduling isn't always about the teams, it is sometimes about renewing rivalrys with longtime friends. This was the case with Texas scheduling Umass and Wake Forest.

Texas is a team getting Hot and playing well at the right time. We think we have both of our losses to top 10 teams could have went the other way. We didn't loss any at home. We will continue to gear up and expand and grow our gameplan waiting for the opportunity to prove ourselves once again in the CFP.
