South Carolina Making a Push for the Top Spot

RB’s NDL Power Rankings – Block 5

Article By: NCSUholmey

Hmm, a power ranking for the entire league? IN THIS ECONOMY?

Yes, there has been some debate about the top 25 coaches’ poll, but I am here to end that debate and give you the TRUE NDL top 25!

All jokes aside, this is simply a for-fun power ranking based on what I’ve seen from stick skills, results, and the “eye test.” This is not an official league poll or ranking.

1. Kansas – Coach Jiggy has been questioned for his weak schedule so far, but aside from 3 games in OOC (two of which against top-tier talented coaches) he’s just playing the schedule in front of him in the Big 12. Call it what you want, but Kansas is staring down the barrel of a date with Baylor to decide 1 in the conference, maybe even the country. Let’s also not forget he’s the defending Cup and National Champion. Put some respek on his name!

2. South Carolina – Metrodee has these boys humming, sitting ranked #3 in the coaches’ pool with 3 top 25 wins so far this season and plenty of opportunities to continue to add to that.

3. Baylor – The Bears have dominated so far this season. Still some massive games against rival TCU and then a date with destiny vs. Kansas. It’s very impressive what Vegas is doing with that team considering their ratings aren’t all that high.

4. Florida – Coach Marion talks a lot of $h!t, but he’s backed it up. The 3 teams above him are undefeated and if it weren’t for his 1 loss to Kentucky, he’d probably be in my #1 spot. He has a chance to prove even more vs. Kansas in the Cup Round of 32, but this dude has 4 top 25 wins so far this season and may have 6 or 7 by the time it’s over.

5. Notre Dame – Reign stumbled against Stanford and a lot of people were confused, but it was bound to happen at some point. He’s bounced back crushing GT and Michigan recently in the cup, still a top 5 player and not even close to done yet.

6. Alabama – The Tide have had some close calls, and after the loss vs. South Carolina have bounced back both in the NDL Cup and regular season. The game vs. Mizzou was a gut check.

7. Texas – Steam has some games to play yet, he’s a little behind but will surely “catch up”. He had SMU in the national title game last year and once he gets rolling (see what I did there) he’ll probably be sitting in the top 5 again soon. Some want to say he shouldn’t be ranked so high with less games played, but F ‘em.

8. Georgia – Dcane has dropped 2 tough games this season vs. Alabama and Florida. He has a big game vs. Texas coming up soon and that may be the one that decides his fate this season. He’s still a top dawg in the this league, but the margin for error is now zero.

9. Colorado – Not much to say here, other than the speed and talent crushes guys. There’s a few big games upcoming, but Dcanady is scoring at an extremely high clip and doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon. Will be curious to see if the Buffs can get that 2 spot in the Big 12.

10. Iowa – Wildes plays Iowa football the way it was meant to be played. He’s cerebrial, mistake free, and run’s the damn ball! It may not be sexy, but the big dog is going to eat.

11. LSU – still that dude, don’t let him lull you all to sleep.

12. Iowa State – One close lose to a top 5 team, has gone quite but is a sleeping giant in this league.

13. Michigan – A top the big 10 with Iowa, big tests upcoming and that cup loss to ND looked brutal (sorry Phreakkk)

14. Utah – Pat say’s he sucks but is 6-1 and is taking care of business.

15. Penn State – Not sure why he’s ranked 24th, should probably be around this spot. Great decision making, nasty defense, oh, and better hope you don’t play him at home!

16. Georgia Tech – Off to a darling start and still a top the ACC, but that ND loss shows he’s not quite there yet

17. UCONN – Riccio is a beast and ballin’ with HIS squad. Dark horse to find a playoff bid in my opinion.

18. TCU – Great user and skilled coach, couple of L’s now to tougher teams but not out of the Big 12 race yet.

19. Oregon – Shel stumbled on the road twice and is still figuring things out. I expect a late season run out of him.

20. Memphis – Quitely one of the best in this league. Was tempted to but BigRed higher but let’s see how the UAB game goes first.

21. Kentucky – After slow start, theiiiiiiiiirrrrrr back!

22. Miami – Another slow starter whos one 5 in a row. LOOKOUT!

23. SMU – The Mustangs are balanced and still have everything to play for.

24. Texas A&M – Don’t look now but the Aggies still have a lot to play for!

25. New Mexico – Only G5 team in my power rankings. If it weren’t for the SDSU loss maybe it’d be them. Sammy is a dog and with more history behind him, I went with Lobos.

Sorry little guys, but this is a POWER ranking, as I am sure this will spark some controversy or debate haha. No discredit to the season anyone is having out there, it’s all just fun and games!
