WEEK 9 SEC MEDIA PICKS & RECAP
Article By: That finish line is fast approaching but there is still a lot undecided. South Carolina is the current
favorite to win the conference but there are several other teams nipping at their heels. Texas is
also undefeated, but they seriously need to get some games on the books as they’ve only played
three so far with zero conference games. One loss conference teams include Alabama, Florida,
LSU, Georgia, Missouri, Auburn, and Oklahoma. Guys, UT isn’t the only one behind in games.
Let’s make a concerted effort to get some games in over the upcoming weekend.

GAMES REMAINING
WVU @ SC
TENN @ BAMA
JAMES MADISON @ MIZZOU
NEW MEXICO @ OU
CLEMSON @ OLE MISS
WEEK 7 POTW – South Carolina WR Mazeo Bennett[/u]. Mazeo helped the Cocks to a
31-17 win over number one Alabama. The WR didn’t have crazy eye-popping numbers with his
four catches for 80 yards but he provided two TD’s that helped break the Tides back and provide
the margin of victory.
WEEK 8 POTW – Alabama running back
Jam “On It” Miller. Miller carried the
Tide to victory against arch rival Tennessee. The hotly contested game was put in the hands of
Jam he delivered with 201 yards rushing on 21 carries while scoring three rushing TD’s. Jam
also caught three passes for 51 yards but one went for 55 yards. Ho-hum, 24 touches for 252
yards and he also led the band at the final horn in the Tides 31-24 victory.
SEC MEDIA’S POWER RANKING:
1.
South Carolina – they beat the man (Alabama) and very few in the country are playing
as well as the Cocks.
2.
Alabama – took an L to the top team inn the conference but they’ll bounce back and
will be in the fight for the conference championship.
3.
Florida – Got stunned by UK in the first half and a furious comeback left the team short
on the final game winning drive (thrown pick).
4.
Georgia – Don’t sleep on the Dawgs as they’re in prime position to crash the party.
5.
Texas – have to get some games in ~ we’re all waiting on that UGA game.
PREDICTIONS
BYES – UF, SC, UGA, and TENN
BAMA @ MIZZOU – There seems to be a regression with both the Tiger O and D and it’s not
the time of the season for the breakdown. BIGmike will get booed and heckled returning to his
former team but it won’t matter as the Tide will chalk up a big road win…ALA 34-24
MSU @ ARK – It’s been a tough road for the Bulldogs and the SEC Media has officially created
the #pulling4daDOGs hash tag on X. It won’t help here as the Razorbacks D keeps them in
check and gets the win…Ark 31-7
UK @ AUBURN – The Cats are trying to claw their way back into the SEC title game
conversation. This is a must win or officially lights out. They’ll need to play consistent ball for
all four quarters. The tight loss to UGA will either spark the Tigers or sent them into a tailspin –
buckle in Auburn…UK 38-17
VANDY @ TEXAS – We won’t sugarcoat this one as we fully expect the Longhorns to roll bigly
here…UT 38-7
UPSET OF THE WEEK:
OLE MISS @ OU – High hopes were in Oxford and those high hopes get shot down more in
Norman. I’m not sure this will qualify as upset material with the Rebels coming in at 1-5 and the
Sooners sitting at 1-2 Both don’t have a lot of games remaining that scream “easy win” so this
game becomes important to both. I have OU winning as long as they pound the ball and limit
turnovers. Also, I don’t expect a lot of points scored…OU 20-17
GAME OF THE WEEK:
TAMU @ LSU – The Tigers are trying to keep pace with their one conference loss while the
Aggies are just trying to stay afloat with two conference losses. Both of these teams have a lot to
lose and gain from this ball game. I’m thinking this game smells like a low scoring defensive
war. Now, don’t get me wrong each team has offensive weapons littered all over the field. There
will be some big plays but the defenses are fast and can turn you over so I expect the offenses to
play conservative.
KEYS FOR A&M:
-RB’s in the passing game could be deadly.
-QB1 has to start fast and strong.
-Have to slow the ground game early.
KEYS FOR LSU:
‘-Tigers are dominant when they keep their opponents under 20.
-Slow the A&M backs and make them pass.
-Get that ground game going early.
PREDICTION:
LSU 24
A&M 23
