HOUSTON — The Kansas Jayhawks, riding high on their #1 ranking, came into TDECU Stadium and left a trail of devastation, blanking the Houston Cougars 35-0 in a game that could easily have seen triple-digit scoring from the visitors. The Jayhawks’ dominance was evident from the opening whistle, with head coach JRod’s squad utterly dismantling Houston’s run-and-shoot offense while putting on a clinic of their own. The Cougars were left stunned, held to an all-time record-low 37 yards of total offense in a performance their coach later described as “a total abomination.”
“Total abomination. I figured we had taken a few steps in a year's time to make things somewhat competitive. I was wrong,” Houston’s coach said, expressing frustration over his team’s lack of progress. “Coach Jiggy is just a step — make that ten steps — above us, and I'm skeptical anyone outside of possibly Florida can knock that team off.
