Altmyer looks to lead Illinois' talented roster

Illinois looks to start strong

Article By: hail_bowdown

Luke Altmeyer has heard the rumblings from Illini fans in Champaign-Urbana. Going into his Junior season the talented Quarterback looks to lead this Illini group into the heat of a very powerful B1G conference this season. When asked about his progression into taking a leadership role of this team Altmeyer simply responded "The best is yet to come."

The Illini field a talented young squad that is on the rise. Led by Junior Altmeyer and Sophmore RB Kaden Feagin the Illini look to impose their will on opposing Defensive units which comes as no easy task. First Year HC hail_bowdown knows this and recently stated in an interview that "Illinois has a rich history of football and a loyal rabid fanbase. They are eager to start this season off the right way, and I'm here to see that its done."

Hail comes to town with loads of experience on the defensive side of the ball. It will be interesting to see how his players take to the aggressive blitz heavy scheme and taking chances on that side of the ball. This will be put to the test early with highly ranked Nebraska and Boise St. early both with superstars on the offensive side of the ball. Hail looks to lean on a pair of solid cornerbacks in Tyler Strain and Terrance Brooks. This defense led by Senior All B1G Honorable Mention ROLB Seth Coleman looks to wreak havoc on an absolutely stacked B1G conference this year.

The Illini have a tall task ahead of them keeping the likes of early season Heisman Candidates Ashton Jeanty and Dylan Raiola in check but this team might just have the grit to do it.
