Oklahoma Football Welcomes ShadyNasty as New Head Coach

NORMAN, OKLA. — The University of Oklahoma is proud to announce the hiring of ShadyNasty as the new head coach of its storied football program. ShadyNasty, who led the Cincinnati Bearcats to a 9-4 record last season, including a decisive bowl victory, will take the reins as the Sooners transition into the highly competitive Southeastern Conference (SEC).

ShadyNasty’s impressive coaching tenure at Cincinnati saw him bring out the best in his team, going 9-4 in Big 12 play during season 29 of the NDL. His leadership helped secure a key bowl game win, showcasing his ability to elevate programs and deliver on the biggest stages. Now, as Oklahoma enters a new chapter in the SEC—a conference known for its wealth of elite coaches and powerhouse teams—ShadyNasty is ready to embrace the challenge and continue the Sooners' proud football tradition.

“We are thrilled to have Coach ShadyNasty leading Oklahoma football into the next era,” said Joe Castiglione, OU Athletic Director. “His track record of success speaks for itself, and his ability to develop players and create a winning culture is something we’re excited to see here at OU. We know he’s the right person to help us compete at the highest level as we join the SEC.”

ShadyNasty inherits a program with a rich history and championship pedigree, one that has consistently been among the nation's elite. With the Sooners making their move into the SEC, the program is poised to face some of the best teams and coaches in college football. The SEC, home to perennial powerhouses such as Alabama, Georgia, and LSU, is widely regarded as the toughest conference in the country, setting the stage for a new and exciting chapter for Oklahoma.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the University of Oklahoma,” said Coach ShadyNasty. “This is a special place with an incredible tradition of excellence. I’m ready to hit the ground running, and I can’t wait to work with this group of players as we prepare to compete in the SEC. The competition is fierce, but we’re ready to rise to the challenge.”

ShadyNasty’s arrival brings a new sense of energy and momentum to the Oklahoma program, as fans eagerly anticipate his vision and leadership for the Sooners in the SEC. His reputation as a skilled tactician and motivator will be crucial as Oklahoma looks to establish itself in its new conference home.
