MAC Preseason Rankings Part 1 of 2
Article By: Welcome to the Mid-Atlantic Conference preview. I am your host, commissioner Dcane. Just to keep things fun I am putting together a preview of the conference this season and I hope you all enjoy.
12. Buffalo – I don’t know a lot about Coach OMW but I have seen his activity during blitz and I have to say he’s enthusiastic about playing. Whether or not his skills match is another story. Coach OMW is new to the NDL so I don’t have much history to go on but he has grabbed a challenge taking the role as HC of the Bulls. Not much to be excited about when you look at this team on paper. QB CJ Ogbonna is going to have a lot of pressure to get things going on the offensive side of the ball with few weapons to choose from. The Bulls will need to avoid being a one trick pony on offense in order to compete. On the defensive side of the ball, they will pin their hopes on the back of star MLB Shaun Dolac but I’m sure it will be a bit much for the senior to handle alone.
Prediction: 1-11
11. Eastern Michigan- Man as I look at this team my heart just goes out to the new NDL coach jbm1031. There’s absolutely nothing to be happy about when you look at this team. No offensive or defensive standouts, and nothing that shows any signs that could help E. Mich tip the scales in a game. On paper this team looks hopeless but since his skills are unknown, they just might be the thing that puts the Eagles in a better spot than last.
Prediction: 2-10
10. Akron – Now the only reason Akron is here and not 12 is because I haven’t seen him play or heard of him getting games in yet. But at the bottom the Zips go as this team just has too many holes to compete in my opinion. Coach Sagesammons is another new coach to the NDL and will get a quick crash course in how to take a loss gracefully as there are no weapons to lean on for this team. The only bright points on this team are Junior WR Alex Adams, Senior DE CJ Nunnally IV, Junior ROLB Bryan McCoy, and Junior CB Darrian Lewis. The Zips will need their Defense to step up big this season if they want to come away with wins but I feel the MAC has to many more stacked teams that will overpower the Zips in the long run.
Prediction: 3-9
9. Ohio Bobcats – Let's be honest. When you hear the name Ohio the last team you think about are the Bobcats and their roster definitely shows you why. I couldn’t find anything that I would say would make me lean in this direction or the other if I were to have this team. There is definitely going to be a need to keep your defense off the field as they aren’t going to make a lot of stops with the holes this defense has. Coach xBVNG is another new face and looks to make a name for himself. I would focus on just getting games in, solid game play for good reports, and my participation because I don’t see a bowl game in the future for the bobcats but stranger things have happened.
Prediction: 2-10
8. Northern Illinois – Coach Addilopes is another new face to the NDL and so I don’t have a lot to say about the coach just yet but as the season gets going, I’m sure that will change. IRL NIU shocked college football pulling out at surprising upset against the Fighting Irish. Will Coach Addilopes be able to pull out a similar performance? Just like IRL the pressure on the offensive side will fall on Senior HB Antario Brown, but will he be able to shoulder the load or will it become easy to stop since he’s the only person on offense to worry about?
Prediction: 4-8
7. Western Michigan – Now these last few were not easy to position as some are coaches I know well, have seen play for some time now and just know anything could happen between these guys and that still speaks to Coach K2K. With weapons like Senior QB Hayden Wolff, and Sophomore HB Jalen Buckley, Coach K2K will be able to shake things up on offense also having targets Wolff can hit on the field. Where they will struggle will be keeping offenses of the schools above them off of the field. I see W. Mich pushing teams though and maybe sneaking out some unexpected wins.
Prediction: 5-7
