Article By: Season 30 kicked off for the Virginia Cavaliers with a win against Air Force in the Beefy Cup. Virginia traveled to Colorado Springs to take on Coach Ice and the Air Force Falcons. The weather was right, and the football was good.
Colandrea had a great game, going 21-24 299 0 0. Playing mistake-free football, he found Chris Tyree for 6 105. The star of the game was HB Kobe Pace, who paced the offense for 159 yards and 4 TDs. He moved the chains all night and popped off a few big runs.
UVA opened the scoring with the only score in the first quarter: a 27-yard FG by Will Bettridge. In the second quarter, the scoring gates opened. Kobe paced two TD runs of 5 and 1 yard. Bettridge ended the quarter with a 38-yard FG. Air force added 2 TDs from Aiden Calvert for 78 and 30yds
In the 2nd half, the scoring was a repeat of the 1st for the Hoos. Pace had 2 more TDs on runs of 7 and 18yds. Bettridge also added another FG of 35 yards. Air Force Kicker Mathew Dapore added Air Force's only score of the half with a 35yd FG.
What a great game and we got to catch up with Coach Ice. What more can you ask for. A win is awesome but catching up with an old coach is better than any win. Ice great game glad we played and got to catch up.
