Drewbacca & Maryland level record at 2-2
Article By: Drewwbacca kicked off his NDL coaching tenure in high style, with a 58-52 victory over Nevada, but matchups with Michigan State and MTSU followed, and quickly doused the heat on Maryland's opening weekend heater. In a tense, back and forth game that was a 1 possession game for most of the 4th quarter Maryland held strong and grounded out a well earned victory against TEEwade and EMU.
QB Billy Edwards Jr opened the season with 532 yards, for 8 TD's vs Nevada. As to be expected, a career day like that could not be matched, and average QB play in the next two games yielded pedestrian results. 2 L's ensued.
Drewwbacca was unable to find the run game early on, but Maryland went to work between game blocks, and found some ways to be effective in the ground game. Roman Hemby finally brought the energy and against Eastern Michigan carried 21 times for 168 yards.
Drewwbacca has leaned heavily on his defensive stars and thus far Dante Trader and Reuben Hypollite have answered the call. Trader has 2 INT's early on and returned 1 of those 65 yards to the house.
Marylands time to gel, and learn each others playing style is over. With the non con schedule out of the way, block 3 will kick off the heart of B1G conference play. Can Drewwbacca carry the momentum he's building personally, and translate that to a few quick wins in B1G play, to hit his 4 win goal, and then add some icing to the cake?
