TCU's High Powered Offense Came Up Short
Article By: TCU played its season opener against Mississippi State Bulldogs. Both teams are coached by newcomers to the league and set out to leave their mark. Over the next 4 quarters, both teams would show flashes of high power offensive capabilities.
The Bulldogs came out to a fast lead, leading 31-10 at the half. the Horned Frogs made some half time adjustments and came back scoring 21 points in the second half and holding the Bulldogs to 7. The Horned frogs came up short in its comeback bid, partially due to 4 turnovers.
Even with the loss, TCU looks prepared to give defenses a fit throughout the season. TCU had 613 yards of total offense, with 519 coming through the air. Josh Hoover spread the ball to anyone open (even to the wrong team at times), and connected with 8 different receivers. Blake Nowell led the receiver core with 164 yards on 2 catches (that is not a typo). Cam Cook led the team in rushing with 124 yards on 23 carries.
TCU has a Week 2 bye, but looks to bounce back in Week 3 when they host the UCF Knights.
