Article By: Two weeks into Season 29 of the NDL, the BGSU Falcons have moved to 2-0 with wins over the FIU Panthers and an upset victory over the ASU Sun Devils.
Week 1 the Falcons relied much more on their passing game as they struggled to move the ball on the ground and really struggled dealing with a couple of impact players on the Panthers. But when it mattered most the defense stepped up with two ints, and were able to give some breathing room to clinch the opening victory for the season.
Week 2 brought rival Chase aka VTrunNgun to Ohio. Early on it was a tight game with both teams not really looking to open it up, and BGSU was forced to lean on their run game some. Despite being down 10-3 just before half QB Connor Bazelek drove the team down to tie the game just before the break and after forcing a few costly turnovers, including 2 ints for Darius Lorfils (3 on the season in two games), BGSU moved away and were able to hold on with teh 31-17 victory in their home opener.
Looking ahead to the next block the Falcons only have 1 game, as they will be welcoming the "Evil Empire" of the SEC, the UGA Bulldogs, into Doyt Perry Stadium in Week 4 following the Falcons week 3 bye.
