HUNTINGTON, WV – The Marshall Thundering Herd are gearing up for another exciting season, and early returns from preseason camp suggest this could be a special year. While the Thundering Herd are still fine-tuning their roster, a few players have emerged as early standouts.
All eyes have been on quarterback Cole Pennington, the son of Marshall legend Chad Pennington. The younger Pennington has impressed coaches with his poise, accuracy, and undeniable football IQ. With a last name synonymous with Herd greatness, expectations are high, but the early returns indicate he’s ready to fill the large cleats left by his father.
While the quarterback position seems to be locked down, the running back role remains a wide-open competition. Several talented backs are battling it out for carries, making for an intriguing position to watch as the season approaches.
On the other side of the ball, wide receiver Tychaun Chapman has been a revelation. His speed, route-running, and ability to make big plays have caught the attention of everyone at camp. The connection between Chapman and Pennington has already produced some highlight-reel worthy plays, and fans can’t wait to see what this dynamic duo can accomplish during the regular season.
