Block 1 Games of the Week
Article By: Opening day is just about upon us and you can feel the excitement in the air! Did you get enough practice in? Do I have a good playbook? Should I have really picked
this team?
The Kickoff Classic is set for Saturday, July 27th and then Weeks 1 and 2 will open on the 28th. We’ll start each block with our
Games of the Week preview and then cap off the week with our
Players of the Week review. Good luck to everyone this week and season!
WEEK 1
The clash between the
West Virginia Mountaineers (shel311) and the
Virginia Tech Hokies (nick) is more than just a game; it's a rivalry steeped in history and passion. Every encounter between these two college football powerhouses is a showdown that ignites the spirit of their respective fan bases.
The rivalry, often referred to as the
"Black Diamond Trophy" series, dates to 1912 and has seen both teams battle fiercely for dominance on the gridiron. Whether they meet at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown or Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, the atmosphere is electric, with fans decked out in team colors and brimming with anticipation.
To add more fuel to the fire,
Coach shel and
Coach nick are true rivals, not only on the digital gridiron but also the digital baseball diamond
(NDL OOTP League). We'll get to see how much father time has messed with the once great
shel ... or we'll see him take his frustration out on
nick since he's the better baseball manager. Yeah, I said it
shel!
Prediction: West Virginia Mountaineers. His skills seem to still be intact.
WEEK 2
The
Iowa vs Iowa State football matchup is a fierce and highly anticipated rivalry in college football. Known as the
"Cy-Hawk Series," it pits the two teams in a battle for state supremacy and bragging rights. Two newcomers to the NDL,
Coach Jrembold with
Iowa State and
Coach wildes1 with
Iowa will put it all out on the field to hopefully help propel their respective team to their ultimate goal, a bowl game and a chance at the NDL Championship....and those sweet, sweet rivalry game win points. While both coaches, for the moment, are relatively unknown
Coach wildes1 has been active in the scrimmage department. His team seems fired up and ready to go. But that's the fun of opening day, there are so many variables we're unaware of.
Prediction: Iowa Hawkeyes...I've seen wildes1 scrimmaging quite a bit and will, unfortunately, have to lean this way.
