Article By: The Tennessee Volunteers headed into the season hoping to come out with at least a .500 record and were able to meet and exceed those expectations. "We had some games early that we knew we
should walk away from with the W, but with our past history we know it's never a given...so to pick those up along with the huge win over Oklahoma State, well, it just really got our season going for us," stated Coach Wasted.
The Vols were only able split the SEC games going 4-4 with a huge win over USC at South Carolina in triple OT. "That may be our signature game right there. OSU was a big win for us no doubt, but beating USC on the road in the SEC was probably even bigger. This really helped us especially with our records being the same. Owning a tie breaker over them puts us in a great spot for a good bowl game."
The Volunteers are predicting a spot in the Gator Bowl but are not sure who they will be playing yet. Speculation is between one of either Penn State, Michigan, or Nebraska at the moment and the Vols know that which ever one of those it ends up being it will be a big challenge for them.
"Right now, here in Vol Country, we're just happy to be returning to Bowl Season after such a long draught. Our fans are excited, our players are excited, it's going to be a great atmosphere around here for a while."
Asked about his future plans Coach Wasted stated that right now he is here in Knoxville. "I can't really imagine leaving at the end of the season. We've got a great team here. Defense is playing well, offense has some tough match ups. It'll be interesting to see what's out there, but my expectations right now are to be leading the Vols again next season."
