Just a little something more to read as you wait for S24 to kick.
Atlantic Coast Conference
Atlantic
This division is split right down the middle with three teams that have a shot, and three that do not. Boston College, Maryland, and Wake Forest will find it very difficult to even finish in the upper half of the divison while any of the remaining three teams could win the crown. NCSUholmey is the ACC mainstay but faces stiff competition from the likes of new comers JustGiver at Florida State and Lytezout, who finally moved on from TCU, at Clemson. Look for a battle but after several tough seasons look for Clemson to win the division under the guidance of Lytezout.
Coastal
The Miami Hurricanes are the defending ACC Champions and are poised to repeat in S24. The biggest threat to the Hurricanes title defense is Virginia Tech. Last season Miami edged Virginia Tech 24-17 in Miami but will travel to Virginia Tech this year. Despite the home field advantage look for motivation from an Orange Bowl upset loss to Nevada to fuel Miami throughout the ACC season, including against the Hokies. North Carolina and Georgia Tech cannot be taken lightly or they will turn the division race upside down.
Championship Game
Miami over Clemson
Big XII Conference
The Big XII sees four coaches capable of winning the conference return with two new faces that will certaintly be in the mix. Missouri is fresh off the S23 conference championship and a appearance in the S23 National Championship Game but did so under the element of surprise after a down year in S22. With the target painted squarely on their back this time around look for the Tigers to slide down the table a bit and new team to claim the title in S24. Texas, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Kansas State, and Oklahoma all look as if they could step up and win the Big XII this year. What I see is Coach Plasma coming into the conference already having won 24 games on NCAA 12 and hosting Coach VVV in a fitting end to a rivalry before the Aggies head off to the SEC for S25. In the final week of the season I see the HFA at Kyle Field being the difference as Texas A&M edges Texas and the rest of the pack to win the S24 Big XII Championship.
Big East Conference
The Big East has been the most consistent conference in the NDL from top to bottom the past few seasons and that is saying a lot as the PAC 12 holds the two most recent BCS Championships. In S24 though, the Big East is bound for a shake up with departure of Coach Doc at Pitt. The Pittsburgh Panthers nearly snuck into the BCS Championship with two losses a season ago but do not expect the same as Coach Niddy adapts to the toughest conference in the league. Connecticut nearly broke into the big game two seasons ago and will be in the mix for the Big East again but two teams that are poised to not only claim the Big East but also step up into the National Championship picture are the Cincinnati Bearcats and the West Virginia Mountaineers. While I expect these two teams to top the conference it's a toss up as to just who it is. Cincinnati gets WVU and Connecticut at home and also has loads of momentum in their favor after a Sugar Bowl victory over South Carolina so they'll be my selection to take the Big East (and a lot more if they get out of their tough OOC undefeated) in S24.
B1G Ten Conference
Legends
The B1G Ten sees a ton of change heading into S24 with new coaches at eight schools after a S23 where it appeared no one wanted to win with as many as seven teams still having opportunities to make the B1G Championship heading into the final block of the season. Despite the new coaches I see the same this season with slug fests in both divisions with six teams being clear front runners to be in the Championship Game. Michigan, Michigan State, or Nebraska will once again represent the Legends Division in Indianapolis. Having experience over the other two in the conference I expect the Spartans of Michigan State to win their second division title in the past three seasons. Another reason Michigan State looks good is they are not hated as much as the two coaches at Michigan and Nebraska. Coach uf###### ticked off Husker Nation by plucking the Corn Huskers out of the grasp of one of their own and if we know one thing here in the NDL it's that Husker Nation is STRONG and none want to see the new coach win much. Meanwhile at Michigan, it seems new coach Nicky Wadden will not stop until he has supplied each of his 12 opponents with bulletin board material. It has to catch up sooner or (probably sooner AND) later.
Leaders
Ohio State, Penn State or Wisconsin. Take your pick, could be anyone. Coach Tig ends a dynasty at Tulsa to take over the defending B1G Ten Champions in Ohio State. Coach Doc ends a dynasty at Pitt to take over the other major school in Pennsylvania, Penn State. Coach DCane takes over Wisconsin after surprising many with his results at Duke but will surely have to change the offensive play calling to adapt to the Bagers. Of these three the only team I can see pulling off the difficult feat of going 2-0 against the others is Ohio State but I am sure to be wrong here, total toss up.
Championship
Michigan State over Ohio State
Conference USA
East
While Central Florida may be the most talented and balanced team Conference USA has to offer it appears everyone wins big at East Carolina. Cdub will be sure to continue the winning trend for the Pirates and represent the East. Central Florida will be a bowl team for sure while Black Rain has plenty of experience at UAB and could round out the top three within in the division.
West
The longest running dynasty in the conference, Houston, will always be in the mix for the division and conference but there is another team that has a lot of talent and finally has a coach that may play a game. I expect Southern Methodist to top the Cougars this season and make it to the Championship Game under new coach | The Doctor |
Championship
East Carolina over SMU
Mid-American Conference
East
Can anyone stop MAC East powerhouse Buffalo? Short anwser is yes. Kent State has won the division the past two seasons but new coach JeffDaddy was nowhere to be seen last season. If he is active this year he could be the favorite but I'll go with PacksyD and the Red Hawks of Miami to make it to the Championship Game.
West
While this division holds a few coaches that could spring an upset or two it's a two horse race between Shel at Ball State, determined to keep up with the likes of Nole and BIGmike in the NDL success category, and hugme at Western Michigan. Two seasons ago hugme beat Shel while he was at LSU with the Broncos so surely a win over Ball State is a given, right?
Championship
Western Michigan over Miami OH
Mountain West Conference
Only two teams even have a chance to win this conference. The big bullies on the block that no likes to play with, Boise State and TCU. Last season Coach LytezOut edged Coach Wasik and Boise State to win the conference. He took finally getting over the hump as his ticket out of the conference. Coach Chuskerpride takes over but expect Boise State to take back the crown in QB Kellen Moore's final go-around in the NDL.
Pacific 12 Conference
North
Oregon and Stanford hold the last two BCS National Championships and both want to make it three. New Oregon coach 6ft and second-year coach Steamrollr at Stanford have a whole a new level of competition this year though. Coach BigRy at Cal will be a tough game for everyone while Coach George at Washington is hell bent on a successful season that will reward him his beloved Cornhuskers. I still expect Oregon to claim the division but not unblemished like last season.
South
Another obstacale standing in the way of a three-peat for the PAC 12 North is an absolutely loaded PAC 12 South. Last seasons division winner Coach UCLAMac returns with the Bruins but is now joined by the likes of Coach Sammy at Southern Cal, Coach Outlaw at Arizona, and Coach RB4SC22 at Arizona State. This division ranks up there with the B1G Ten Leaders division as the toughest to predict in the NDL. UCLAMac is the big dog at the moment but Coach Sammy and Coach Outlaw have proven time after time they can win with anyone and while Southern Cal possesses more talent I expect Arizona to spring the upset and take the division out of the grasp of both LA schools.
Championship
Oregon over Arizona
Southeastern Conference
East
Last season Florida looked like the favorite to win the SEC East until South Carolina went into Gainesville and came out with a victory. It eventually turned into their second consecutive SEC Championship. In S24 South Carolina faces a hellacious schedule with the likes of Virginia Tech, Southern Cal, Wisconsin, and Clemson out of conference. It is very possible you see a hard fall from grace for the Gamecocks this season, included in that should be revenge with the Gators going into South Carolina and taking the SEC East crown from Coach Champdizzle.
West
Mississippi State has reached the SEC Championship game over the likes of Alabama and LSU two seasons in a row but has lost both. Is the third time the charm? Have you heard Nole is at LSU now? Mississippi State will not be a factor in the SEC West in S24 leaving it up to LSU and Alabama. Looking at Coach BFiVL's bowl record you can't like Alabama's chances when the big showdown comes around.
Championship
LSU over Florida
Sun Belt Conference
The Sun Belt will be as exciting in S24 as it has ever been in the NDL due to a slew of talented coaches. Coach BigStimpin at Arkansas State, Coach BIGmike at Louisiana-Lafayette and Coach CNasty at Middle Tennessee State, and Coach John24 at Western Kentucky all have the name recognition and stick skills to strike fear into an opponent. It has been a minute since Coach BIGmike has played with a ULL caliber team and took the first two seasons of NCAA 12 off due to connection issues. I think that will open the conference for someone else like BigStimpin at Arkansas State but there will be a slew key games that could tilt the conference in any direction but the Red Wolves are my pick to take it in the end.
Western Athletic Conference
Nevada took the conference by storm last season but there has been a talent shift with quality coaches coming in at Fresno State and Hawaii. This will be the final go around for all three teams as they move onto the Mountain West for S25 and I expect one of the three to take the WAC Title with them. Nevada has just too much to live up to after an Orange Bowl victory over Miami last season and high expectations will ground the Wolf Pack. Hawaii and Coach Vicktim have a nice passing attack but will need a running game to produce to keep defenses from dropping seven or eight back in coverage every play. Coach Seeit and Fresno have the best running back in the conference and the best kicker in the country. That combination will lead to the Bulldogs taking the WAC Championship to the Mountain West.
