Coach Doc explaining what happened this week
The Post Gazette caught up with Caoch Doc in his post block recap
PG - Coach you opened up the season with 2 huge wins was this expected?
CD - Not at all, both these games in the past we have a hard time winning and really we go in with no real outcome in mind just try to stay in it really
PG - OK St comes in here with being ranked all last season and the defense played well. OK St only had -2yds rushing.
CD - Well they never run so thats a stat flawed a little but what Coach Pino does well is throw and he dropped 3 bills on us. Our front 6/7 played well up front but we have to get better in the secondary.
PG - You say get better in the secondary but as a team you have 6 INTs in 2 games. How much better can they be?
CD - Well INTs dont tell the whole story. They got torched by Ok St and Manuel is learning a new system and isnt the most accurate kid in the league so Its an area that needs help.
PG - Alot of hype coming the Panthers way after 2 huge wins. How does that make you feel?
CD - Well 2 big wins are great but its not our season and we still alot of that left. We still have 3 huge OOC games left plus the Big East schedule. I told our guys after the FSU win. 1 game at a time play all out and wins will come but dont read the paper. Dont get ideas in your heads that your better the you are because we could be easily 0-2.
PG - Speaking of your next 2 opponents anything you preparing for in particular?
CD - I dont think so. When I was with Kent St we shocked the NCAA world with upsetting Auburn in Auburn under Coach Daw and we are familiar with his game as he is with ours. We will try new things keep him on his toes. With Ohio St it will be different a very fast qb we just need to play solid gap defense and try to contain Pryor get a hat on him and keep him thinking.
PG- Thanks for the time coach. How is Ray doing after leaving the 4th with a rib Injury?
CD - No problem. Ray is on the table everyday we will take it slow with him. I don't for see his Ribs to be a problem for the foreseeable future. He will be out there for sure.
