We are midway through week's 3/4 and the conference shapes are starting to take form.

The ACC is staggering to get up after a first round knock down. This race right now seems like Virginia Tech's to lose, he is off to a great 3-0 start while the rest of his conference is 1-9. A few teams haven't played yet or have only lost some tough match ups, but they need to turn things around in a hurry

The Big 12 has 3 undefeated teams left, which isn't a shocker, except that those teams are Iowa St, Kansas St, and Texas Tech. The rest of the conference is looking to bounce back from some surprising non-con losses, no bigger than Tulsa over Texas which was big in week 1, but may go down as one of the biggest upsets in NDL history as the season progresses.

The Big East is another team with surprises up top. Driccio has responded well to his new win goal and has jumped to a 3-0 start and only two teams left without a loss in conference, Louisville, who had a huge win in their own right, vs. Florida. The conference is unlikely to produce an undefeated team though.

The Big 10 may be the slowest conference out of the gate as they have a few teams who haven't played, including big name coaches. But the big surprises come on who has already lost, Ohio St, and Iowa (twice!) have already busted their chances at a NC, and now will be fighting to stay afloat in the rough seas that are the Big 10.

Conference USA is usually a stable conference that doesn't tend to factor into the BCS, but they have already made their presence known with a few upsets. On the long run though, everyone loses early with only 2 team left without a loss. UAB started fast and has a favorable schedule down the stretch, they could make some noise.

The MAC is a tale of two halves. The teams in the MAC that are good are showing they can make bowls. But the bottom of the MAC is bad... really bad. Eastern Michigan is on pace though to be the worst ever. Granted he played some big names schools, but he is 0-3 and has been outscored 7-104, he has two bye weeks to practice before getting ready for some conference games against equal opponents.

The MWC was my pick for the hardest conference and so far they haven't disappointed. Even my pick for the bottom, LGF is 2-2. The conference has 3 undefeated teams left but this is going to be a dogfight until the end. If someone manages to survive this conference undefeated, they may deserve a spot in the NC.

The Pac-10 is the opposite of the ACC, they are 11-3 so far and may be the most balanced in the NDL. We are going to have to wait and see how this one turns out, but with all of them winning big non- con games, 8 bowl teams isn't out of the question. A contender for the NC might make its presence known here, could this be plasma's year at Stanford?

The SEC has always been a force, but this year will explain a lot. Kentucky and South Carolina are out to fast starts and plan on making a run in the East but as always, everyone's eyes are on the West to see if Biffy can finally dethrone Shel and LSU. The SEC is tough, but the quality of coaches may be second to the MWC.

The Sun Belt always has a rough start to the season due to some overmatched non-cons but it has been a good start with half the team getting wins early. If some major conferences lose bowl teams, I am sure the Sun Belt will mop up the place.

Finally the WAC, oy this one may be Fresno State's to lose. Quite a few teams in this conference have gotten in some bad starts, including my preseason pick, Hawaii. Now they need to get themselves ready for conference play, and hope for the best.
