Top 25 Worthy/Unworthy (After Week 6)

Article By: NCAA Dynasty League

#1

LSU continued their winning ways and once again hold the #1 spot. Beating Florida and Tennessee impressively the Tigers now turn their attention to Auburn before heading into their big showdown with Alabama. WORTHY

#2

Alabama beat Florida and South Carolina to remain unbeaten, and as a result jumped Nebraska to take over the #2 spot this week. The Tide is expected to win their next 2 games against Ole Miss and Tennessee, so expect a #1 VS #2 when LSU and Alabama play next week. WORTHY

#3

Coming off victories over California and Kansas State, Nebraska is down to #3 this week. The Cornhuskers have probably their biggest block coming up, taking on Texas and Oklahoma State. If they get through those two games the road to another unbeaten season gets a little easier. WORTHY

#4

The Badgers hold onto the #4 spot this week, coming off wins over Michigan St. and Minnesota. If Wisconsin gets by Ohio State and Iowa next block then the schedule the rest of the way is very favorable. Wisconsin doesn't look to start slowing down anytime soon, I'm finally onboard. WORTHY

#5

The Hurricanes knocked off Clemson and FSU in back to back weeks to hold onto the #5 spot. Miami should have it pretty clear all the way to Week 12 when they get Virginia Tech at home, so look for the Hurricanes to remain at the top at least until then. WORTHY

#6

Going into Conference play next week West Virginia sits at #6 waiting for someone to lose so they can move up. The Big East conference had a lot of coaches return from last season, so expect some weird things to happen now that Conference play is about to begin. WORTHY

#7

Oklahoma jumped USC this week taking over the #7 spot. Going into Big 12 play we will see if the Sooners can keep their momentum going and get Oklahoma into the Conference Championship game. Oklahoma has some big games pending, but at least one more week I'll go WORTHY

#8

Southern Cal squeezed by Stanford and still have a game with Washington to be played last block, but dropped a spot this week. The Trojans should have no trouble with California or Army next block so expect them to remain in the Top 10. WORTHY

#9

The Red Raiders are up 4 spots from last week after beating Iowa State and Baylor. Big Week 7 game against Oklahoma St. will tell us all we need to know about Texas Tech. If they can pull it off they will control their own destiny in the Big 12 South. WORTHY

#10

Southern Miss has grabbed the voters attention and climbed all the way up to #10. Starting with Memphis next block, the Golden Eagles still have a few tough games to play, but if they can continue to win we may see them climb their way into a BCS Bowl. WORTHY

#11

The Gators are down a spot after a tough block last week losing to LSU and Alabama. Looking to get back on track they turn their attention to Mississippi State and have a bye in week 8. I know Forida got a tough draw last week, but I have to drop them more than 1 spot losing both games. UNWORTHY

#12

The Cowboys are up a spot this week coming off a victory over Texas A&M. If you want to know if Oklahoma State is for real, look no further than next week as they will be taking on Texas Tech and Nebraska in back to back weeks. The Big 12 will begin shaping itself next week. WORTHY

#13

Memphis climbs 6 spots all the way to #13 this week after pushing their record to 6-0 last block. With Southern Miss and Houston coming up, we will find out just how far Memphis is going to go this season. If Memphis gets by these two, look out. WORTHY

#14

After losing the first game of the season, TCU has won 5 straight climbing this week to #14. The Horned Frogs has BYU and Air Force coming up and those could go either way. TCU looks like they could be one of the best 1 loss teams in the league right now, so look out for them. WORTHY

#15

South Carolina couldn't get it done against Alabama and dropped 3 spots this week. The Gamecocks should win through the next block and move back up a little in the polls before getting into the thick part of their schedule. South Carolina is leading the SEC EAST to this point. WORTHY

#16

Ohio State has been sliding down the polls every week, this week dropping 6 spots. Next block the Buckeyes have to travel to Wisconsin, so unless an upset happens expect them to fall further down next week. Winning the games their expected to win. WORTHY

#17

Notre Dame is on the move again this week, moving up 4 spots. The Irish should win their next two games to get them to 7-1, before traveling to LSU in week 9. That one will tell us if Notre Dame is capable of being a BCS buster. WORTHY

#18

Also up 4 spots this week is Indiana. The Hoosiers are 3-0, but their toughest part of the schedule is coming up in the next few weeks. The teams that Indiana has beaten so far has only 3 combined wins, so I have to see more before I rank them #18. UNWORTHY

#19

FSU drops 3 spots after going 1-1 last block, beating Virginia but losing to Miami. The Seminoles have Boston College and a bye next week, so they should be able to win that one and move up a little next week. Only two losses were to ranked teams. WORTHY

#20

Rice has shocked the league jumping out to a 4-0 start and has moved into the Top 20. With Houston and Central Florida coming up it want take us much longer to find out what Rice is all about. Rice has beaten some pretty good teams to get to 4-0. WORTHY

#21

Getting out to a 2-0 start Kansas makes their way into the Top 25 this week. With a lot of games still to be played Kansas has some work to do, but the schedule is favorable all the way to week 11. Just haven't seen enough yet to consider Top 25. UNWORTHY

#22

Houston loss to Utah in week 6, resulting in a fall from #14 to #22. With the toughest part of the Cougars schedule coming up they better be careful or it will be a season to forget. Lets see if Houston can turn it around before it goes completely down hill. WORTHY

#23

Clemson slips again in the polls, this time 8 spots after losing to Miami in week 5. The Tigers are probably the best 3-2 team in the league having lost to 2 top 10 teams. With the schedule ahead I don't see Clemson staying down in the polls for very long. WORTHY

#24

Toledo squeezes into the Top 25 for the first time this season, getting out to a 4-1 start. Toledo looks to be a team to look out for in the MAC this season, but I can't see them pushing for a big bowl bid. The loss to Cincinnati costs the Rockets a Top 25 spot for me. UNWORTHY

#25

Arizona gets back into the rankings after winning 3 in a row, improving their record to 4-1. The Wildcats will have to be careful in their game against Washington in week 8 or we may see them pull another 1 and done in the rankings. WORTHY

OTHERS TO LOOK AT:

Penn State: Were ranked in the previous 3 polls, but we dropped them out this week. 4-2 now with a bye in week 7 and a winnable game in week 8.

Utah: The Utes improved to 5-1 last block with an impressive win over Houston in week 6. Keep an eye on Utah in the coming weeks.

Arkansas: Now 4-2 after the slow start, but need to beat a a ranked caliber team to catch the voters eye again.

South Florida: The Bulls have a few games pending, but have gotten off to a great start beating some pretty good teams along the way. Most impressive win was Oklahoma St. in week 2.
