Top 25 Worthy/Unworthy (After Week 4)

Article By: NCAA Dynasty League

#1

LSU won their first real test of the season when they knocked off Ohio State in week 4. The Tigers will face another test next block when they travel to the swamp to take on Florida. If LSU wins that one look for them to be #1 again next week. WORTHY

#2

Nebraska improved to 3-0 on the season with wins over Oregon and Tulsa, but the Media dropped them 2 spots. The schedule gets tougher for Nebraska over the next few weeks, with a couple road games against ranked opponents. Keep an eye on Nebraska. WORTHY

Alabama comes in at #3 after winning road games over Iowa and Arkansas. Weeks 5 & 6 will tell us a lot about the Tide as they get Florida at home and then go back on the road against South Carolina. Alabama has been on the UNWORTHY list for the first couple weeks, but after winning 4 road games in a row I can't put them there this week. WORTHY

#4

Wisconsin had back to back bye weeks in 3 and 4. Over the next few blocks we will find out if the Badgers are worthy of their #4 ranking. I had them unworthy last week and with the bye weeks I can't change yet. UNWORTHY

#5

The Hurricanes as expected beat San Diego St. in week 3 and had a bye in week 4. If Miami continues to win next block against Clemson and FSU, they could easily catch the eyes of the voters and jump a team or two next week. Watch the Canes this week as they go into what is probably going to be their toughest block of the season. WORTHY

#6

Big week 3 win over Clemson has West Virginia up 2 spots this week. With Florida International being the only team on the schedule for the Mountaineers next block, expect them to hold serve and look for someone ahead of them to lose, so they can move up. WORTHY

#7

Southern Cal drops one spot after beating Minnesota and Washington State last block. The Trojans will be facing two good quaterbacks when they take on Washington and Stanford next block, but it looks like if they get past them they will cruise to 6-0 over the next few weeks. WORTHY

#8

Oklahoma jumps into the top 10 this week, coming off a win over Penn State. With week 4 off the Sooners get ready to take on Texas in The Red River Rivalry and then off to play Mississippi State. The Sooners look to be players in the Big 12 this season and next week should give us an idea if their for real or not. WORTHY

#9

Another new Top 10 team this week is Florida. Coming off victories over Tennessee and Kentucky, the Gators are 4-0 and 2-0 in the SEC. Florida's schedule really gets tough next block with Alabama and LSU coming up, but if they can pull off the victories they should jump a couple teams and really climb the polls. Four wins over BCS conference opponents so far, I have to say. WORTHY

#10

Ohio State is down 3 spots after the road loss to LSU. The Buckeye's have a couple tricky games coming up with Illinois and Indiana that they better be very careful with. Ohio State is the only team in the Top 10 with a loss and for that I have to say. UNWORTHY

#11

Oklahoma State beat Tulsa in week 3 and had a bye in week 4. The Cowboys have Texas A&M coming up in week 3 and have a bye in week 4 before they hit a real thick spot in their schedule. Moving up 4 spots is to many for me after the struggle with Tulsa. UNWORTHY

#12

From unranked to #12 in two weeks South Carolina has really caught the eyes of the voters. Still carrying momentum the Gamecocks knocked off Wyoming and Auburn in weeks 3 & 4. If South Carolina can upset Alabama we should see them move into the top ten next week. WORTHY

#13

Texas Tech climbed 7 spots after knocking off Texas in Week 3. The Red Raiders should knock off Iowas State and Baylor next block to climb higher if someone ahead of them loses. 3-0 with their closest game being 14 points, for at least one more week. WORTHY

#14

The Cougars are slowly climbing their way up, this week up 2 spots to #14. If Houston can knock off Utah in week 6, that should give us a good idea on how the voters are going to vote them this season. WORTHY

#15

The Tigers fell 6 spots after losing a shoot out to West Virginia in week 3. In week 4, Clemson struggled to beat San Diego St and now have Miami coming up in week 5. Lets see if the Tigers can get back on track and climb back up in the polls. WORTHY

#16

Florida State drops down in the polls after losing to TCU in week 3. In week 4 the Seminoles got back on track and knocked off Wake Forest and now have a huge game against Miami coming up next block. After the loss to TCU this is about where I had the Seminoles. WORTHY

#17

Southern Miss is 4-0 and in the Top 25 for the first time this season. Started off 2-0, but wasn't until week 3 when they knocked off Virginia Tech that the voters took notice. Followed that big win up with a victory over Louisville in week 4 and now look to do business in the Conference USA. WORTHY

#18

The Spartans get back on track with wins over Notre Dame and Cincinnati last block to creep back up in the polls a few spots. With Wisconsin coming up, Michigan State is in position to make a big jump if they can pull the upset. WORTHY

#19

Memphis is off to a 4-0 start and finds themselves ranked for the first time this season. With a couple winnable games coming up the Tigers should continue to move up and be a force in the Conference USA. WORTHY

#20

TCU lost in their season opener, but have won 3 straight and find themselves at #20. Their biggest win came in week 3 against Florida State, but they also knocked off Pitt and SMU. TCU should be favored in the rest of their games, so expect their rise to go as high as the voters let them. WORTHY

#21

Notre Dame is up 3 spots this week with a record of 3-1. The Irish lost to Michigan State in week 3, but turned it around quickly and beat Stanford in week 4. Notre Dame has a good shot at winning their next 4 games, so don't be suprised to see them rise in the polls. The loss to Michigan St. didn't allow me to move them up in the polls. UNWORTHY

#22

Indiana has strung together 3 wins in a row and moved into the Top 25 for the first time this season. Coming off a big win @ Tennessee, Indiana has two big games against Michigan and Ohio State. If the Hoosiers want to stay in the Top 25 they sure do have their hands full in the next block. I like the Indiana at this spot. WORTHY

#23

Arkansas has been sliding down in the polls since the season began, but with next weeks games you can expect that to stop. 2-2 is not the start the Razorbacks were hoping for, but they have plenty of winnable games left to still have a great season. One of the best two loss teams in the league, don't expect them to be ranked this low for long. WORTHY

#24

Kansas State dropped two spots after a week 3 loss to Iowa State. They Wildcats were off in weeks 4 & 5, but will have to be ready to play in week 6 as they take on Nebraska. The voters took it very easy on the Wildcats after losing their only game last block. UNWORTHY

#25

Penn State started the season at #25, won their first two games and jumped to #14, only to turn around and lose the next two games to find themselves right back at #25. Now the Nittany Lions have to get ready for a couple tricky games against Iowa and Illinois if they want to stay in the rankings. After the two losses I had them just outside the Top 25. UNWORTHY

OTHERS TO LOOK AT:

Navy: The Midshipmen are 3-1 with wins over Troy, Colorado St., and Marshall. Lost to Boise in week 3, but have some winnable games coming up against BCS schools so keep your eye on that.

North Texas: 3-1 on the season, with their only loss coming in overtime to Air Force.

Toledo: Started 2-0 and have a couple big games coming up that could get them noticed by the voters.

Georgia Tech: 2-1 with winnable games next block could get the Yellow Jackets noticed.

North Carolina: Another 2-1 team with a big game coming up against Clemson that could really make their season.
