Week 5 GOTW: #12 Florida @ #3 Alabama

Article By: NCAA Dynasty League

#12 Florida Gators (4-0) @ #3 Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0)

As of this writing, there are only three 4-0 teams in the NDL. #12 Florida and #3 Alabama are two of them. The third is #18 South Carolina, while #1 LSU sits at 2-0. With so much competition in the SEC this season, these early conference games are that much more important in reaching a national title. This game right here may very well be a preview of the SEC championship game later on this season.

What To Watch

Coach mcx79 is coming off a successful 6-season stint as head coach of the South Florida Bulls, leading them to one Big East title and four bowl appearances. His Gators have gotten off to a solid start, with wins over #19 Cincinnati, Minnesota, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Their offense is led by RB Jeff Demps, who is averaging over 100 YPG on the ground and has already amassed 9 TDs. The Gator offense has yet to put the ball on the ground, but QB John Brantley has thrown 2 picks in each of their last two games. Florida's defense ranks 1st in the SEC and 11th nationally, and look to give the Crimson Tide a hard time moving the ball.

BFiVL enters his unprecedented 17th season as the Alabama head coach. The Tide have mainly dominated their opponents, averaging over 18 points in margin of victory in their four outings. However, they barely managed to squeak by #13 Arkansas 24-21 as the Razorbacks missed a game-tying field goal as time expired. Alabama attacks with a more balanced offense, averaging 125 passing YPG and 150 rushing YPG (which leads the SEC). Their defense is right behind Florida's and they force nearly 3 picks per game. With the struggles Brantley has seen the last two games, the Crimson Tide defense will look to continue their streak of interceptions.

THE Untouchable Prediction

Defense will play a big factor here. The Tide rank 1st in the SEC in interceptions and forced fumbles. Coach BFiVL obviously knows how to disguise defenses well and he has the stats to prove it. And even though both of these teams are putting up a ton of points on the board, I'm going to go out on a limb here and call it a low-scoring game.
