Wow, I really just now sat down and eyeballed the coaches in the BIG XII this year, and it is a veritable Who's Who of the NDL!
I certainly encourage and welcome your thoughts on the upcoming season as well.
I could see up to 8 teams winning the Big XII, so it is going to be a real battle to see who is left standing at the end of the season, but with that I have to make these fearless predictions so here we go...
North:
Nebraska-Coach Sixft is back in Husker land looking to recapture the magic of last season. There may be a dropoff, since it is hard to go through any season undefeated much less back to back, but it won't be enough to keep Nebraska out of the Big XII title game, and national title talk!
Missouri-Potentially most explosive offensive weaponry in the North. Crowes, may start the season slow, but come conference time he will have the Tigers pushing for the North crown.
Kansas-Coach Hugme has been steadily climbing the ranks of respectability around the NDL in his 3 seasons so far. Look for that climb to continue this season.
Colorado-DonkeySho, maybe starting a dynasty in Boulder? He will certainly win enough to keep that going.
Kansas State-SoRocco will look to keep the Wildcats in the mix for the Big XII North. Pound the rock, spring a couple of upsets and it could very well happen.
Iowa State-Ice Ice Baby! Iowa State has cupcake talent, but look for Ice to make several coaches choke. He more than can make up for lesser player talent w/play-ability.
South-
Texas-VVV finally gets his team, but will the hype of doing so help him or hurt him? Chances are he will do just fine.
Oklahoma-Brett showed out while at SMU last season going 10-3. He must be drooling at the vision of Sooner talent!
Texas Tech-TFan will challenge the South and make this a big time race w/all eyes of the NDL watching down the stretch.
Oklahoma State-Nole can try to stoke the embers of his legendary status in the NDL. Win the North versus this kind of talent=another notch in the ol' vets gun belt!
Texas A&M-It is hard to put Coach WSDP and the Aggies in this spot. A&M has been in the Big XII title game 2 consecutive seasons, but there maybe even more talent in the South this season if that is possible. I can see A&M taking the South a 3rd year despite the coaching turnover.
Baylor-Coach SteelCityChaos takes over a talented offensive team, they very well may challenge for a bowl, but there is too much to overcome in roster talent difference to make a major run at the Big XII title though.
Big XII Championship:
Nebraska over Texas, as Sixfeet add another conference championship to his mantle.
Now let's go have some fun this season!
