Perfection? Is it enough?

Article By: NCAA Dynasty League

Last Season Nebraska finished the Season with a perfect 14-0 record after it was all said and done, but the Season was still not quite a success in the eyes of the alumni and fans. As the Huskers were left out of the BCS Championship and had to watch from home on TV 2 other teams play in the game they felt they should have been in.

Cody Green stated, -It was hard watching the game on TV, even though we had a great season, with a great outcome, in someways it was just not enough, I mean everyone hopes to play for a National Championship. Sometimes a perfect record just is not enough.

The off-season had many questions as the alumni questioned on whether or not to bring Coach Gonzales back, while in most cases this would be an easy decision, the alumni questioned whether Coach Gonzales had the Prestige to earn the votes of the Coaches and Media, which he failed to do after a perfect regular season, which many regarded as a fluke season as many felt Nebraska was more lucky then dominating. After much deliberation Nebraska decided to bring Coach Gonzales back for one more season.

When Coach Gonzales was asked about how he felt about Nebraska strong considerations of letting him go, he stated - well at this point that does not matter, I am looking at the present and the future. We have been on a long layover as I have not thought about the xs and os since our Alabama game. I will call a team meeting soon and we will begin a short practices before opening the season. Hopefully they are not as rusty as I am ... lol

The Big 12 saw some significant turnover this season in Coaches adding 2 Coaches to Nebraska's schedule that combine for 4 BCS Championships,( Okalahoma St. - Nole4Real and Texas - VVV). There is now 2 Rival Coaches in the Big 12 North for Coach Gonzales to contend with.

Also Nebraska has added to Solid Non Conference BCS team match-ups in Oregon (wk 3) and California (wk5) both Coached by excellent coaches.

This season Nebraska hopes to repeat the perfect regular season record but not the outcome of the season. Nebraska returns all starters on offense and has solidified the starting QB spot naming Cody Green as the starter. Green passed for 2200 yards and added 400 on the ground and had 21 total touchdowns to just 5 turnovers.

Looking forward to another strong season is RB Roy Helu Jr. whom had over 1500 yards from scrimmage in the Percy Harvin type role.

But as it was last season the heart and soul of the team is on the other side of the ball with the Blackshirts. Nebraska returns a stingy defense that is led by All American DE Pierre Allen whom led the nation in sacks last year with 16. Also back is ballhawking FS and 2nd Team AA Eric Hagg whom led the team with 9 ints. Including a supporting cast they helped Nebraska become the 3rd Ranked Defense in the Country.

And while many may loathe them Nebraska fans love their returning All American and Groza Award Winner Kicker Alex Henry who converting on 29 of 30 fgs last season.
