Article By: Orlando, Florida - The extension was given and today it was revealed it was signed by Block M as he will return to Central Florida for Season 21.
Central Florida is out to defend their conference championship of a season ago and improve on their 11-3 record.
To do so they will face their toughest schedule in recent memory.
Just as the head coach did in his first two seasons he also scheduled a very tall task in their first game of the season to perhaps prove to the nation they belong in the top 25.
Thus far, UCF has fallen flat in their chances to prove themselves against the nations best under Block M. In Season 19 Central Florida had their doors blown off at the hands of eventual undefeated Boise State, 31-0. Season 20 held much of the same as Central Florida traveled to Clemson and got shut down in a 26-6 defeat.
Knight fans, coaches, and players alike all hope things are different this season when they travel to the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Arkansas went 10-3 in S20 with a victory over Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl.
Rounding out the out of conference slate are encounters with the Maryland Terrapins in week two at home, on the road against the Colorado State Rams in week four, and rival South Florida comes to Orlando in week five.
Central Florida has ranked 30th and 20th in total defense the past two years according to the Massey Rankings but their offense did not match ranking 82nd and 75th.
As UCF hits the practice field the goal is to maintain their sturdy defensive play but improve drastically on the offensive side of the ball.
Junior HB Brynn Harvey returns after posting 1660 yards and 15 touchdowns in S20 to lead a loaded backfield also including the likes of HB Johnathan Davis, HB Ronnie Weaver, HB Latavius Murray, and FB Brendan Kelly.
The emphasis lies on quarterback play though as fans push for true freshman QB Jeffrey Godfrey to start over junior Rob Calabrese. Calabrese has started every game over the past two seasons but Godfrey could give UCF an added threat on offense with his agility and speed.
Time will tell who gets the nod as the Knights prepare for the Razorbacks with the start of the season coming January 6th.
