Article Data Imported from Previous NDL SiteWeek 12: #3 Texas A&M vs. #5 Nebraska
Article By:
The Big 12 may be giving us a preview of the Conference Championship game this week, when #3 Texas A&M travels to Lincoln to take on the #5 Nebraska Cornhuskers. With National Championship implications on the line, both teams will have to be focused on this game alone or none of it will matter in the end. The Aggies are coming off an 11 point win in Norman, while Nebraska played at home knocking off Iowa State 13-26 in their last game. With both teams controlling their own destiny in the Big 12, more than likely one of these teams will not be in the National Championship hunt after this game has been played.
Key's To The Game:
Nebraska on offense is a team that gets everyone involved. Both Cody Green and Taylor Martinez see plenty of playing time for Nebraska, and it seems to work well as they are completing about 70 percent of their passes. Though Nebraska runs with a lot of different backs Roy Helu Jr is leading the way with 327 yards rushing. Nebraska is only giving up 11 points per game good enough for #1 in the Conference and 3rd in the Nation.
Texas A&M mixes it up well averaging 255 through the air and 91 on the ground. QB Jerrod Johnson has taken good care of the football this year, throwing 16 touchdown passes and only 2 interception. While Nebraska leads the Conference in scoring defense, the Aggies are second, allowing 17 per game. The Aggie defense is not led by one guy, they play with a group effort and really swarm the ball carrier.
Prediciton:
Two undefeated teams trying to get to a Big 12 and National Championship, what more could you ask for. The A&M offense seems to be a little better, but Nebraska's defense seems to have a slight edge, so this could go either way. I think these teams will play again later this season, but for this one I'm going to pick Texas A&M on a last second field goal 20-17.
