Now that we are getting into the stretch run for most teams, the Pac 10 is really heating up. USC is #1 in the country and tied atop the Pac 10 and looking to get back to the National Championship game, hoping this time for better results. They are riding a 6 game winning streak, but are about to enter that part of the schedule where anything can happen on any given day. Arizona State on the other hand are flying under the radar. Coming in unranked at 5-1, they are out to prove something against the Trojans. In an ultimate trap game for the Trojans, if ASU can pull the upset they will get the attention of the voters and can right back into the thick of things in the Pac 10.
Key's To The Game:
Everything for USC falls on the arm of Matt Barkley and the legs of C.J. Gable. Together they have The Trojans as one of the highest scoring offenses in the League averaging around 42 points per game. The Trojans defense is led by Drew McAllister with 4 picks, and Chris Galipo who has 36 tackles on the year.
For ASU Cameron Marshal has been a work horse carrying the ball 135 times for 678 yards and 8 TDS. The stat that sticks out the most in all those carries is no fumbles. Steven Threet is also a threat through the air connecting on 70 out of 101 for 1147 yards. The Sun Devil defense leads the Nation in ints with Keelan Johnson leading the way with 6.
Prediction:
In this must win game for both teams, it can really go either way. USC's passing attack will have to be very careful with ASU's opportunistic defense. If ASU can establish their running game they can control the clock and the game. Though my brain really tells me USC, I'm going to go with the home team and say ASU's defense will make enough plays to slow the Trojans down and pull out the victory. 27-24 ASU with a Keelan Johnson late pick to end it.
