#15 Oklahoma Sooners (2-1) @ #8 Texas (2-0)
The Red River Rivalry. There isn't a yearly matchup that gets more heated than this. And in the history of the NDL, there isn't a rivalry that's any closer than this one. Oklahoma barely edges Texas with a 10-9 lead for the right to the Golden Hat. Oklahoma has won the last two seasons, but a hungry Texas team looks to recapture the Golden Hat on its quest to a NDL national title.

What to Watch For
Texas has opted to go with freshman QB Connor Wood over somewhat-proven sophomore Garrett Gilbert. Look for Wood to target WR Malcom Williams, who has big-play potential. Williams has caught just 4 passes this season but averages just under 35 yards a catch and has scored on two of those plays. Texas actually averages more yards rushing than passing, which is unusual for a team that has struggled to find a running game in recent years. Tre' Newton leads that pack, amassing 313 yards and a score in Texas' two outings this season.
The Sooners, on the other hand, will likely rely on their 15th-ranked passing game, with QB Landry Jones already throwing for over 1000 yards this season in just 3 games. Don't expect Jones to zone in on just one receiver, as he has hit six different targets at least six times this season. He's completing an impressive 72% of his passes, but nearly one-in-four of his incompletions have been picks, so expect the Texas D to exploit that. Veteran senior RB DeMarco Murray will take the handoffs for Oklahoma. He's only averaging 72 yards per game on the ground but has already punched in 8 (count them, EIGHT) touchdowns.
THE Untouchable Prediction:
Obvious bias aside, with all things considered, the choice isn't exactly a tossup. Oklahoma lost in 2OT to an Arizona team that took 3OTs to beat California. They themselves took 4OTs to beat a Boise State team under new management. While Texas has yet to play #14 Ohio State, their 6th-ranked rushing offense that's averaging a whopping 195 yards per game will be a tough match for OU's 58th-ranked defense. This season, the Golden Hat is returning to Austin, and evens the NDL series at 10.
