Article Data Imported from Previous NDL SiteBig 12 Update
Article By: After 7 or 8 weeks of football the Big 12 conference is amoung the best in the NDL. The Big 12 leads the NDL in total wins with 41 as a conf. , has 6 out of the 12 teams ranked in the top 25 and still has 3 undefeated teams. (OU, A&M and Colorado) Although some of the favorites have fallen early, don't think for a second that Texas or Nebraska still can't repersent the Big 12 in a BCS bowl. Heisman hopefuls and superstars allign the conference to go along with some solid coaches on both the North and South side..Right now its up in the air, but ask anyone and most all would be shocked that the leaders of each respected divisions are Colorado and Texas A&M.
NORTH
1.
#22 Colorado--Coach 6ft.
We all know coach 6ft for his great games of the weeks and his corky sense of humor..but this season 6ft has shown this man can coach. The Buffs are 6-0 and rolling towards a big showdown with #5 Oklahoma in week 9. Honestly CU has lived on the cupcake side of the Big 12 right now with their opps. winning percentage at a .172..ouch! but if they can run the table in the next 5 weeks with the likes of Oklahoma, Kansas, Kansas St. and Nebraska put them in the title game!
2.
Kansas St--Coach PacksyD
Packsy is known around the NDL as a veteran coach and a guy with a valid imagination (Bush)..but this season he has taken a under average team and made them respectable. The wildcats started off 3-0 before running into the heart of their schedule, they have now dropped 3 of their last 4 and are looking to rebound. Even though setting at 4-3 they are 2-1 in the conf. and can still win out. A little help from others and the Cats could claw their way into the Big 12 title game.
3.
#15 Kansas--Coach HuskerKev
Kev pretty much lays low and just wins! Husker has won at everyplace he has been, capped off with a 11-1 season last year at BYU. Even though he is a proven winner what he is doing at Kansas has people taken notice. The Jayhawks are averaging 36 points per game, 4th best in the NDL..and has scored at least 34 points in every game except 1. Kev and the Hawks truely control their own destiny and not having to face Oklahoma or Texas from the south make them my North favorites. They get Colorado in week 10 and have to travel to Nebraska week 11, if they escape those test the rest is smooth football for the boys from Lawerence.
4.
#23 Nebraska--Coach Sammy
Sammy is the coach that is true to his Huskers, this will be his 5th season in Lincoln and every year has ended with a bowl victory! Nebraska has a 48-15 record under Sammy and has been in the Big 12 title game 3 of his 4 season at Nebraska. Right now the Huskers need a little help to get back to the championship game as an early conference loss to K-State has them on the outside looking in. If Nebraska can get by a brutal streatch at the end of the season that has them facing Kansas, Texas A&M and Colorado in back to back to back weeks then Sammy will be back in the title game. Nebraska don't face Oklahoma and has already beaten Texas earlier this week.
5.
Missouri--Coach Kdog
To me Coach K is a respected and very classful coach that has just happens to catch every bad break possible...well this year is no different. Missouri has the talent in Columbia but this team just can't buy a break..The Tigers have the 17th toughest schedule in the NDL and have only forced 5 turnovers all season. At 1-5 a shot at the Big 12 title is out of the question, but with trips to Kansas, Kansas St. and Nebraska they could still play the spoiler role in Columbia. I think this team has the offense to pull off a upset or 2, surely the breaks have to start falling Missouri and Coach Kdogs way.
6.
Iowa St--Coach Donkeysho
Coach Donkey is a long time great coach that I've known forever it seems, he plays the game the way it should be..not caring about wins or loses. Well thats a great thing cause right now ISU is 0-5 and maybe their only shot at winning could be a home date with Missouri in week 12. The Cyclones might have the toughest conference schedule of any Big 12 team. They've already played Oklahoma and Kansas St., but still have Texas, Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado..Are you serious? After those 4 they have Missouri and Purdue I think they get 1 of those 2..but a 1-11 season..ehhhh!
SOUTH

#18 Texas A&M--Coach Ank
Coach Ank is a coach that just can't get over the hump, but always seems to pull an upset or 2 each NDL season. Well right now A&M is setting at the top of the north tied with Oklahoma..The Aggies are 7-0 but their wins are not that impressive...Army, UNT, E.Michigan and Missouri to name a few, not saying these teams aren't solid or well coached but a .257 combined winning percentage won't get you any praise. The Aggies signature when was over previously unbeaten Kansas St. in a 27-20 score in Manhatten, but the road just now starts to get bumpy for the boys from College Station. The furture hold Oklahoma, Nebraska and Texas..throw in rival games agianst Baylor and Texas Tech and the Aggies might not win another game this season.

#5 Oklahoma--Coach Dealer
Coach Dealer to me is a stand up, class act guy that just can't beat me! Honestly...He has tried 3 years in a row and just keeps falling short, but seriously if he is going to beat me this year in Norman is his best oppurtunity. The Sooners are my pick to win the South..with a win over Texas already and not having to face Kansas, Kansas St. or Nebraska how could they not be the favorites. If OU can win the next 2 weeks (Colorado and @ A&M ) this team will not be challenged again until the Big 12 title game.
3.
Texas Tech--Coach Tball275
Not going to lie...I can't really say I know Coach Tball all that well..2 things I do know is...1. Ive never played him, and 2. The guy makes the best recaps in the NDL bar none!
Right now the Red Raiders are playing with fools gold, sure they are 2-1 in the conference..but with wins over Baylor and Iowa State the Raiders must prove they can run with the Big Boys to be considered a contender. The Raiders have that chance in the upcoming weeks with games at Colorado and Texas A&M..if they can get wins in those games they still have to travel to Oklahoma and Florida. There is no Kansas, K-State or Nebraksa on the schedule, but A&M, Oklahoma and Texas might be too much for Coach Tball to overcome with this squad.
4.
Texas--Coach Big Stimp
Stimp is a 16 season vet that has been in every conference you can think of. From the dome in Syracuse N.Y. to the Island of Hawaii this guy has seen it all. No doubt he is talented with the sticks, but the fans in Austin are asking WTF is this? Texas is setting at 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the Big 12 after loses to Oklahoma and Nebraska. You have to go back to the SWC to find a Texas team that didn't finish in the top 3 of the conference, so what will happen? Honestly I think the Longhorns will be fine, I don't see a southern title coming their way (just too much has to happen) but with wins at Kansas St., Texas A&M and Houston this could still save the season. 2 games behind Oklahoma and Texas A&M, personally I don't see them catching either team..but a win over A&M in the Lone-Star Shootout would make Coach Stimp's season.
5.
Baylor--Coach Terps
Coach Terps is the guy that grew up right across the river from me in West Virginia and introduced me to save rosters on the old PS2...Man how did I use to play without rosters? But now a little bit of friendly advice to him...Get out of WACO! Right now the Bears might be the worst team in the Big 12..setting at 1-2 and still having 6 ranked teams on their schedule. This could be Terps worst season ever! Not to worry Terps...You still have a trip to Tulane on your schedule, but other than that its hard pressed to find a winalble game. Maybe a trip to Stillwater in week 10 can provide a Big 12 victory..but with Bucki that might even be a streatch.
6.
Oklahoma St.--Coach BuckI2000
To tell the truth this is the first season that I've got to know BukcI...and its been a pleasure, the guy is a class act and someone I hope I can play each and every season as long as I'am in the NDL. With that said the Cowboys are just struggling at 1-3 and a loss to Troy St this could be the most underacheving team in the Big 12. They are 110th in the NDL in points allowed, but 15th in total defense at just over at just over 215 yards per game. To me this tells me 1 thing they are not protecting the ball ...not at all. At a rate of almost 3 turnovers per game this has them ranked 104th in the NDL. Right now hope is not gone in Stillwater as they are just 0-1 in the Big 12....but with games agianst Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska, Kansas and K-State this could just be the beginning of a long long season.
MIDWAY AWARDS
Team of the Big 12
Colorado
Coach 6ft has this team ranked and 6-0 so far. A few more test and this could be the greatest coaching performance ever in the NDL!
Player of the Year
Daniel Thomas--RB--Kansas St.
Thomas has ran for 1365 and 13 touchdowns thru seven games on the year.
Coach of the Year
HuskerKev...5-1 with a Kansas team that is..well not all that good at all. I see a 10-2 season or 9-3 at worst.
Game of the Year
Week 10..Oklahoma @ Texas A&M. A&M might be the only road-block in the way of the Sooners one their way to the Big 12 title game.
Disappointment of the season.
Oklahoma St. BuckI is a great coach and this team has talent to finish atop of the Big 12 North.
