Heisman Watch After Weeks 1&2

Article By: NCAA Dynasty League

After 2 weeks of NDL action the Heisman looks like its will be won by a running back. Right now it looks more like a 2 or 3 man race, but we all know how things change here in the NDL. Here is Ank's top 5 after 2 weeks.

1. John Clay--RB

At this point Clay has to be the leader for the award...Coach Bigred has the Badgers at 2-0, and Clay seems to be his work-horse. Clay has carried the ball on 63 of Wisconsin's 83 offensive plays in 2 games. Clay has 458 yards to go along with 6 touchdowns and a long of 54 yards. Yes right now Clay seems to be the front running...but there is just 2 questions. 1. Can he keep up this pace in the Big Ten..32 carries a game? 2. How does the rest of the team feel about this being a one man show?

2. Daniel Thomas--RB

Thomas must be the Clay of the Big 12...Thomas has totted the rock 60 times already for Coach Packsy in Manhatten and also leads the team in receiving. Daniel has ran for 440 yards and 4 touchdowns as the wildcats have jumped out to a 2-0 start. Thomas leads the NDL in yards after contact with 144. Once again can any back carry the ball 30 times a game in this day and age? Only time will tell.

3. Jordan Todman--RB

Jordan might be the most under-rated running back on this list. Todman has already busted a 95 yarder this season and has 5 touchdowns for Coach Dricco and Uconn. His 250 yards on 47 carries leads the Big East at this point, but his downfall might be the amount of touches he gets this year. Jordan is only good for about 18-22 carries per game this could hurt his chances to stay on this list...but he is also a outstanding receiver out of the backfield.

4. DeMarco Murray--RB

Murray should be a constant visitor to the Heisman watch at OU. DeMarco has 368 yards and 4 touchdowns early in the season for the Sooners and Coach Dealer down at Norman. The Sooners are off to a 2-0 start and Murrays' 95 yards after contact is 2nd to Thomas in the NDL. OKlahoma has a huge date with Texas in a couple of weeks...this will let us know if Murray is a true canidate or a early season bust.

5. Evan Royster--RB

Royster has Coach Reign dreaming of national titles and Heisman hardware up in Happy Valley. Evan is tied for the NDL leauge early with 6 touchdowns with Clay in nearly half the touches. #22 only has 35 carries but has ran for 291 yards with a long of 80, this pace will keep him fresh and poised to make a run at the trophey. Coach reign might need to feed his star back a little more to keep him in the race...but right now 17 carries a game is where he wants to keep Evan.

Right now is a running back league with the top 3 looking to run away....Can a QB get into the conversation? Can Clay and Thomas keep up the 30+ carries per game? Should be a interesting battle for the Heisman this season.

*Note of interest K-State and Wisconsin face off in round 1 of the cup.
