Starting with the release of EA Sports NCAA Football 2011, the NDL will move forward using the new and updated Coaches Area that includes all Coach Reports, Poll Voting, OOC Scheduling, Ladder, and Hall of Fame all under one site. Most of the previous versions of these NDL Programs were made from 2006 to 2007, and it was ready for an update. While many of the changes are visible to the coaches, many updates were made to help make the season to season change as seamless as possible.
Coach Reports:
On the main menu above, click on the "FORMS" link, then on the sub-menu you will click on the "COACH REPORTS" link to access Coach Reports. The new design for coach reports does away with the pop-ups that were used on the last version, as well as lets you see previous entries into the system. Before, you were only allowed to see that you had completed the Coach Report, but now you can go back later in the season and see how you graded each previous game. Games that need to be entered will show up with a Red Text, while locked games or previously entered will show up as Black Text. Note that all reports are still final as you enter them, so make sure to double check your entries as it is very tough to fix mistakes. Reports will be opened during the course of the season, and locked at the end of each season. Once locked, you will not be able to go back and enter in those reports. At the end of the season, some games will need to be simmed. It is very important that you do not go in and fill out coach reports for games that you did not play in and that were simmed. Those games do not go into the formula for Coach Reports. You will need to send your "sim reports" to the appropriate person at the end of the season. Inputting a Coach Report for a game that was simmed may result in loss of points which may cause you to lose your team or hurt your draft position.
Poll Voting:
Poll Voting now will be done in one of two ways, Drag-And-Drop or Drop-Down Menu. Some browsers may not allow for the Drag-And-Drop method, and if this is the case you will need to use the Traditional Drop Down. The New Drag-And-Drop will automatically bring in the results from the previous poll when first loading, so that you can simply slide teams up and down the poll when you vote. Teams with votes will appear at the top of the list (in order of points) and then the teams with no votes will be listed alphabetically. More good news for those that use the Drag-And-Drop method, you can slide teams as you wish and even if you close the browser window, the results will remain until you hit submit. The biggest thing to remember is that you must hit the SUBMIT button for the results to count. If you do not hit the SUBMIT button, it will not count and you will not get your participation points for that weeks voting. The Voting Aid listed on the left side of the voting area now expands and contracts to try to help minimize scrolling while doing your Top 25. The list defaults as open, but a double click on the team name will contract the team results so that you may move on to the next team. The Voting Aid is updated weekly by the designated person for that season. To view the current Top-25, you can click on the POLL RESULTS link at the top. Coaches and Media Top 25 are available, both showing where first place votes went as well as all others that received votes.
OOC Scheduling:
The Out-Of-Conference (OOC) Scheduling is very similar to previous versions. You have the ability to search by Team, By Open Week, By Letter Grade, and By Coach. As teams hit the maximum games allowed, they will be removed from the search database, and only teams that you can challenge will show up. You will not be able to challenge teams that have met the maximum games total or teams that are in your conference. The biggest problem that we had on the previous version is that teams with outstanding challenges could be accepted, and then teams ended up with too many games. The updated system should fix this error, but it is always safe to double check that the other team has not reached the maximum games total. Your CURRENT CHALLENGES link wlil show all games that you have challenges out for, have accepted, or need to be accepted. You can check the different letter grades of the teams, as this could possibly add to your season success goal. To see your win goals for the upcoming season, click the CURRENT SCHEDULE link. The games are broken down on a per game basis, with a rough win goal listed at the bottom.
NDL Media:
There have been many previous NDL Media productions through the seasons, most of which tend to be ran by one person with a hand-full of writers. This set-up allows all of the Conference Commishioners to write the required weekly conference updates, and post them without the help of others. The conference commish articles will automatically be posted to that conferences page, and the archive of all the previous entires with it. As coaches save videos, and forward them to be uploaded on the NDL YouTube account, the NDL Highlights bar will be filled with recent highlights of games that can be viewed by all coaches and visitors to the website. For the video to appear on the highlights bar, it will have to be uploaded to the NDL Account. Games of the Week for the current session of games, as well as a Coach Spotlight will appear on each load giving you a chance to learn a little about other coaches you may not be as familiar with. A pending items list will remind you if you need to vote or how many Coach Reports you need to fill out to remain caught up with the current pace of the NDL season. The NDL Media tab is open to all visitors and does not require a login to the system to read the articles. We have also added a "Facebook Like" button so that you can share information to the rest of the league or to anyone you wish. We do not load any personal facebook information, so you have no need to worry about all the privacy issues. All articles, conference and general, are loaded on the front page until they are pushed to the archives.
History:
The History tab is a updated look to the Hall of Fame. All the data from the previous version is visible here, just had a little appearance update, making it easier to find and search all the data we have archived since Season 1. We are always looking for video highlights of NDL Bowl games, loaded to YouTube. If you have any videos of previous games, send them in so that they can be added to our Hall of Fame.
Ladder:
The Ladder has always been a way for coaches to play head to head games, and have the results tracked for bragging rights. The formula remains the same, points based depending on letter grade match-ups. There is also the Tournaments option, that will track a quick tournament here on the NDL Website. You can set-up your own tournaments, public or private, and select either 8 or 16 teams. The tournament admin can enter, approve or deny game results to ensure that tournaments do not stall out due to an inactive owner.
