Upgrading your PS3 Hard Drive

All of my rockband songs and my launch date 20gb system is starting to reach it's capacity. Anyone ever upgraded their system. I've seen some videos and I think I know how to do it, but any suggestions, or advice?

a friend of mine, upgraded there ps3 from 80gb to 500, and it worked like a charm. its just a laptop hard drive, im gonna be doing the same i got the 40 gig, so im gonna upgrade it myself to a 500gb

I figured that the 500 would be a little overkill, so I ordered the 320 and I think that that will be more then enough. I'm trying to figure out how to back up my files on my current hdd to transfer over, but it won't recognize my external drive.

My ps3 hard drive is backing up as I type. Now I just have to wait for my new hard drive to arrive!

Have you done it? The only thing that worries me is the transferring of files like RB songs and all that.

I have done it. I really thought you couldn't copy RB songs. I don't play with plastic guitars so I didn't have that problem.

Worked great man, and all RB2 songs are still there. Really easy too. Just make sure you have an external hard drive to backup and restore. If you need any help, let me know. But it's so easy, Hoos could do it!
