2088 Season Thread - Once upon a time in Hollywood

Post by TheGobOne »

Offseason file is up. Reports and S+ to follow.

- The Division Draft is complete! I did my best to accommodate preferences and balance the divisions based on recent strength (taking the whole 10 years proved to be too inaccurate - for example our current champions would have around 65 wins avg and be a Tier 5 team). I used a weighted average formula and plan to improve the setup for next time. If you didn't end up with your preference it was strictly for parity's sake and nothing personal!
- The Steel City Bulldogs have relocated to Bloordale along with all their minor league teams. Check them out. Some pretty sicks jerseys!
- Reminder that your budget is set to last year's regular season revenue.
- The new Qualifying Offer is $17,320,701 (up from $17,176,157) based on the average of the top 125 players.
- Never too early to start protecting players for the Rule 5 draft.
- Please read the offseason schedule and tell me if you have any issues.

Top 3 prospects in the league:

Bruno Torres(CLE)-5th round pick-went from a 20POT to an 80POT
Eric Preston(RI)-5th round pick-went from a 36POT to a 75POT
Luis Rodriguez(BOW)-11th round pick-went from 45POT to a 79POT

Pretty cool to see that randomness.

Simple and maybe even obvious, but just well done.

Stop dicking around and I wouldn't have had to send officer Corey to clean things up over there.

Reminder no sim today. Also the email you got about your budget has the wrong number. Check your Finances tab for the correct one. Sorry.

little fun fact...

top rated overall player by OSA is Don Hobbs, CF at a 77.

i basically only played 1/3 of the season for me as a CF because i've been trying to develop him as a SP. he's a 64 potential SP (was higher when i drafted him). I've tried to use him both ways and he seemed to struggle a little when he was doing both (not sure if it's made up in my head or true) so i've been using him as one or the other. Last year he was a SP all year until the last couple weeks then i put him back into the lineup as he wasn't going to make my playoff rotation.

i have other options in my rotation so not sure if he'll be a SP for me going forward or not... but i really loved the idea of having a 2 way guy.

also the amount of 80 potential guys really fell of a cliff. there used to be so many, now i think i saw only like 6 or 8 per OSA

I think we still have only had one truly successful 2 way guy but even he went to only a hitter mid career.

Sexton right?

Sexton comes to mind but I think he only did it a couple seasons. Mostly was a CFer and an awesome one at that.

I got a guy named Joe Davis in my minors who is looking like a legit two way prospect right now

Probably not going to be an amazing player at either position, but I just have an irrational love of two way players lol

Sexton did it for me for. A few seasons. It did not workout for me. Was just a Ok at both . Ended up with Bowie just played CF and returned to a all star.

We talked about it all the time, I just think it takes too much energy to be a starting pitcher and a starting position player. You end up having to manage a player that's always tired.
