Draft Lottery

Bottom 10 teams go into the ping pong ball hopper.
Randomly generated order is provided for the next draft.

I know we’ve tossed the idea around so making a formal poll.

I'd actually be for it, but not if every non-playoff team had the same odds. Something like the NBA odds is fine. None of it is really necessary, but I just think it a lottery would be fun, add some spice to things.

I would need to see this done on a live video feed as I would not trust just a post that I cant see how the results happened.

Maybe give each team a number then put those numbers in a random.org generator type deal and show that live as it happens.

If that cant be done I am a NO. If the random generation of those lottery picks can be done live then I am a YES.

I agree with shel.
If we go full non-playoff teams that creates a bit more work as I feel it shouldn’t be just random generator in that scenario.

I like bottom 10 personally but just feel a lottery would be real fun and possibly combat some of the “tank” theories...if there are truly any in the first place.

Oh I guess I always envisioned it as NHL style where the worse team still has the greatest odds of getting #1. Is your idea the bottom 10 teams get the same chance at #1?

I am all for it. Neurotics league does it and it’s pretty great. Would definitely need to be NBA style. All non-playoff teams is too much though, I don’t think 18 is the way to go. I kinda like the initial post of 10, I think anything above that is a bit much.

I really think the NBA style offs work well too.

Bottom 4 teams have the same odds. And it flows on down to where the lowest odds are like 1-2%.

I can think of multiple things that make it easier to suck rather than sign the full teams of starters sitting in FA and at least attempt to be competitive.

I do like the idea, but also think it should be weighted.

Thing about tanking is over half of the real bad tank jobs you see are due to guys going over budget and having no money and they can’t sign anyone. That is not really tanking unless you still do it after getting out of the hole. Yes, we have blatant ones where guys could add some and don’t and some owners honestly just suck at this.

Just thinking aloud here...

- There are random generator website where you can weight the odds however you like. That part is super simple, probably 5 minutes tops.
- Then Billy would have to manually change the draft order
- And we just have to figure out how to divy up odds for ties within the top 10, then same for Wasted's example if the actual 10th spot ends in a tie
